Powers on/off quickly

I bought this monitor at a swap meet for $25... naturally I'm skeptical about their warrantees. Alas, the thing doesn't work. The green LED comes on, and automatically powers on, then the picture warms up and displays a beautiful picture for about half a second, then turns off again immediately and restarts the process. I thought the power button might be stuck, but it doesn't seem to be a mechanical issue. Should I throw this junk away and cut my losses, or is it salvagable? Thanks!

Hi, I am of the opinion that the LCD is reasonably repairable. It would seem that something needs repair/replacement in the inverter section of the LCD. This is where the power to the backlight comes from. More often than not, the defective components are capacitor(s) that have lost its capacity to hold a charge, burst, swollen or lost its oil film separator. They are relatively inexpensive and should be be easy to replace. In some cases, it may just be a component cold solder which would require re-heating; connection that heats up because they are loose or at worst a CCFLamp that is at the end of its life. hope this be of some help/idea. Pls post back how things are or should you need further information. Good luck and kind regards.

Apple Cinema 30 display powers on but nothing on a screen. Hi, Monitor powers on but nothing on a screen. Can anybody tell me what is caused the problem? Could this issue is caused by the...

Try to shine aflashlight on the screen and seeif you see an image. I have a Apple cinema HD 30 (A1083). I have no power. I checked the
power supply and it is good. I bought a main board from ebay. I still had the
same problem so I returned it (minus a 15% restocking fee). I read somewhere
that you have to have the usb cables plugged into the computer for it to work.
Is this true? If so I may have returned the part I needed to make this monitor
work. (just my luck) I bought this monitor for $25 used off craigslist. I am
really excited to get this working. I have heard great things about how
fantastic the dispay is. I am ready to do some gaming on it. I am an electronic
technician but not so familar with this apple monitor. I figured I would turn
to this forum to learn from some apple experts out there. Any imput would be
wonderful in troubleshooting my problem.

thanks

MSI mobo powers up, but no signal to monitor.

i hate to tell you this but it seems your pci or in your case agp exp.slot is most likely melfunctioning if your card works on another computer then that may be your problem one thing you can try is take the mobo out and let it sit for a few days or call msi them selves and they may replace it for you for free they are good about that i have the k8n neo4 with a 7950 1g pci.e with same problem and thats my pci e not working

Powers up but then shuts off

Could be one of two things: The power supply for the monitor has a loose connection and as soon as it starts heating up the connection is open. Or your video card could be going bad. I'd bet on the former, though.
Why not try swapping out the monitor for one from a friend and see if the problem persists?
If it does, either get the monitor fixed or replace it.

Computer powers up I hear it booting up but monitor stays black screen. can't get the monitor menu or anything.

The first thing to make sure of it that it is not the monitor, do this by installing the monitor on another pc or swapping monitors with another one. If it works then move on to the most likely solution, a bad power supply. A bad power supply can have enough left in it to power up fans and drives.

Need help with projector. can't get it to work, but I know it's me. Now, I can't get my remote monitor to work. I may have pushed the wrong button. I have an HP Elitebook 8350 and the new projector is...

There will be a function key that allows you to swap what monitor the display comes up on. On my HP its the blue (fn) function key with f4. This should swap display between laptop monitor and external or show up on both.
Other things to check are that the projector is powered on and plugged in before the laptop powers up.
Also check resolution of laptop display it may not be compatible with the projector.

Warrantee for Esante

The 25 year warranty only applies to parts that came from the factory defective: not parts that break during use. It also only covers replacement of the part, not labor to repair nor transportation of the part.

The 25 year warranty is probably the most useless warranty in existence. Some company (that shall remain nameless,) started advertising it heavily many years ago, and everyone else followed suit to compete.

Most machines have an effective 1 year parts and labor, and 5 year electronics warranty.

For a more accurate diagnosis of your machine, bring it to a warranty station. They'll be able to tell you the warranty status of your machine as well as diagnose the problem, and repair it as necessary.

Blank screen

This problem is very often caused by dry electrolytic capacitors on the inverter board. If you have some skill with soldering you could try to change them. When buying new ones ask for LOW-ESR capacitors for switching mode power supplies (SMPS) and 105°C, they are a little bit more expensive than normal electrolytic capacitors, but are designed for this aplications so they lasts more. Normal el. caps will also works fine so when you cannot buy LOW-ESR for SMPS use normal ones.
