There is not much software other than the drivers needed to install usb flash drives.

W 7 First, please disconnect all USB devices and then perform the following steps:

Click "Start" button, type "devmgmt.msc" (without quotation marks) in the "Search" bar and press "Enter". Click "Continue" if necessary.

In Device Manager, double click to expand "Universal Serial Bus controllers", right click on the Host Controller, click "Uninstall" and click "OK".

Repeat the step 2 to uninstall all items under "Universal Serial Bus controllers".

Then, restart your computer and Windows 7 will reinstall all USB controllers automatically. for XP or earlier click start right click on computer select properties device manager scroll down universal serial bus controllers you could see a yellow question / exclamation mark? ! or a red X you will need to update/reinstall drivers right click to reinstall drivers if you can see your usb drive but its not working ports (com&lpt) right click update driver if this fails to fix the problem Check the USB leads that attach to the motherboard usually red white green black make sure they are securely seated and have no dust build up on them dust will cause static and a lot of unforeseen problems to a computer and its parts if you need more help with this or if i have missed the problem post a reply

I have a Dell Inspiron 530 w/ an 0ry007 motherboard. I would like to use 2 monitors. Will it support dual monitors through the one port if I use a Dual DVI adapter?

This system uses a PCI-E slot for its video (graphics) card. This is the perfect platform to accept a high end card that has dual DVI outputs, which allows multiple displays. You should change out the card that came with the machine, most PCI-e cards these days have the dual outputs and cost less than a hundred bucks. The dual output is a better way to go instead of an adapter.

Installing dual monitors

You need to have a PC or LAPTOP that supports DUAL MONITORS mode.
On most Laptops, dual monitors is fairly standard: LCD laptop display and external monitor plug to your VGA (or HDMI) output port.
On Desktop, you need to make sure that your current adapter support two external monitors outputs or you will need to install an additional plug-in display adapter.
If the Hardware requirements above are met, then it is a simpler matter to change your 'display settings' to enable the second monitor either as a mirror of the main display or as an 'extension' of the main display.
Hope it explains what is required! Let me know how your go.

this would be donne first in bios and secondly under display properties/settings in windows.  this is assumming that the onboard graphix is capable of multi-monitor arrangements.

How do i pot in a second monitor what do i need my tower has a second connection available it is a male and it is color blue

Prior to mainstream adoption of the PCIe bus, configurations of more than two monitors were either achieved with an AGP card with dual video outputs or by using an AGP graphics adapter as the primary device and a Conventional PCI graphics adapter as a secondary device. Given the bandwidth limitations of the older PCI bus, however, such setups were not common, and maximum overall graphics performance could be obtained only by using specialty solutions such as the Matrox G450, which features four outputs from one graphics adapter. Now that computers with two or more PCIe interfaces are popular, middle- and high-end computers are no longer limited to two monitors driven by a single main graphics adapter. If a dual PCIe interface is not available or is otherwise occupied, a standard PCI graphics card can still be used to provide additional video outputs, albeit with performance trade-offs. Specialized application environments such as CAD, day trading of corporate stocks, and software development are increasingly using six or more monitors on one production system.
Additional monitors can also be connected to PCs via a USB connection such as DisplayLink.

Have a gray transparent band on right side of screen

do you ever run dual displays using a monitor?if so,is the gray band on that screen too?if you grab the screen at the top and flex it left or right does the image change,if it does, check your display connection to the graphics card on the motherboard, and inspect the ribbon for signs of damage,if the same image is on a monitor in dual display,it may be a software problem uninstall your display adapter and all monitors in device manager,,and any software related to it ,restart and when it automatically finds new hardware, cancel it,go to the ibm support site get the latest bios update flash it exactly as the instructions state,,download fresh graphics driver and reinstall, hope this helps aloha from maui todd0708

Want to have dual monitor feature in my dell laptop

You will have to check and make sure that your video graphics hardware will support the dual option. If not, you will have to purchase a PCMCIA video graphics adapter that supports a second monitor.
