Hello,
No sound is coming out of the Altec Lansing speakers on my hp pavilion dv6101eu. I'm not getting any sound either when I connect speakers or headphones to the external audio jack.
I've tried a system restore, driver roll back, driver update and HP's troubleshooting steps indicate that the appropriate systems are working fine--checked to make sure there is no mute box checked as well.
I've pretty much tried everything and am not sure what to do next.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated
Thanks

Click on the Apple icon and look at the sound options in the system preferences. If the Mac does not detect your speakers, you may need to install drivers for them. Try doing that at the Altec Lansing site. Also try the tech support at Altec Lansing and at Apple.
I had a similar problem with my Altec Lansing BX2 speakers. When bringing my HP PC out of "Sleep Mode" (Windows 7), I either had a blank screen with only a cursor or a desktop with no start menu, desktop icons or any means to operate the computer. After unplugging the speakers and hard booting the computer, the PC returned to normal operation. I'm looking for a solution myself.
troubleshoot for a disconnected wire right below the mouse pad or under the speaker panel. I went through the same problem... it was a disconnection problem. I fixed it myself and never tore a computer apart before. It works great now!
Try re-installing the sound card drivers. You can access the sound card through your device manager in the control panel. The drivers would have either come in a CD along with your system or you can download them from the internet.
I have to turn the volume to max to hear any sound. Up until now the speakers were great and only needed to be turned on slightly? any suggestions please?
Bad board, inside of your speaker system, time to RMS or use the warranty, if you register your product, this could be easy.
Some boards , depending on energy at home voltage, etc, can be damage, and sometimes fried the board, for a energy fluctuation. Consider to use warranty, or RMS, in this case.
