Re: edacs frequencies

Are you getting talkgroup ID's? If not, you're probably monitoring the EDACS system in conventional mode rather than trunking. When the scanner hears those beeps, it's supposed to go back to monitoring the control channel if you're in either trunking mode (search or scan). This also happens if the CC isn't coming in very well. If you're not in trunking mode, read the manual to find out more about programming and monitoring trunked systems. If you are in trunking mode and receiving ID's, the unit is probably malfunctioning.

Cannot recieve new Motorla trunking Feq after system upgrade on my Pro 95 scanner. What can I do?? Thanks, Ron

They probably went into a digital trunking system. Your Pro-95 will only handle Edacs, Type I and II standard trunking.

Or they changed the trunking voice frequencies and the data (control channel) frequency.

Which system are you trying to listen to? Which city area ??

Is there software for the pro 96 to monitar edacs

This scanner only monitors 2 of the 3 types of trunking systems. There is no digital voice inversion. There is an AGC control for the digital voice to try either way DG (on) or Dg (off) There is software you can buy to program the PRO96 from Don Starr. There are two Yahoo GrOUPS you can join to discuss this radio, in addition to forums on RadioReference DOT com.

I have two uniden scanners (BCT 8) and both have stopped working. On checking we know all scanners in the Reno NV area have stopped working on the trunking system EDCAS - any suggestions as to what it may...

Your EDACS system may have switched on the ProVoice security system. If so, NO scanner will pick up their trunked transmissions. For more information/research on the EDACS system in your area, I suggest you visit

How do I program conventional frequencies into my Uniden BC898T? I have Motorola TypeII Digital Tunking frequencies programed into Bank A and EDAC Digital Trunking frequencies programed into Bank B

Just go to Bank C or anything after that and start entering -- one channel, one frequency. It's kind of cumbersome to do by pushing the keys, but it works. An alternative is to use the BuTel software. It will simplify programming and give you Virtual Control of the scanner through your computer.

If this helps, please give us a rating. A "very helpful" would be greatly appreciated.

I want to know what the frequencies are in the digital range what i mean is,like what a digital freguency is

a digital frequency is normally one that is trunked by a digital trunking system. You will need to know what type of trunking system you have, ie: Motorola type I or II, EDACS standard, or SCAT, or EF Johnson. Each one of these uses a different type of tagging to program its frequencies. Some will allow you to just enter the AFS(agency frequency-subfrequency) It looks like this for example: 03-062 Either or your local radio shack should be able to help you in obtaining what you want.

When scanning the radio resumes before end of transmission

The manual states that the scanning will halt whenever the squelch is broken by a transmission, just as expected. When the transmission is complete, the radio continues scanning. This makes hearing any reply nearly imposible to monitor - and is the problem I believe you are describing.

Page 37 of the manual says that a 2 second delay can be assigned to a frequency whenever the radio has paused on a channel. Simply press the DELAY key on the scanner to assign the delay to the channel. If there is no additional transmission within 2 seconds, scanning will resume.

Below is a copy of the manual to reference or print if you can't find yours (you'll need a free program called "Adobe Reader" found at to view or print this manual).

I hope this helps!

Here is the directions to store frequencies in your scanner:

Storing Known Frequencies
Into Channels

1. Press Hold. Then enter the channel number
where you want to store a frequency, then press
Func and Pgm. The channel number appears.
2. Use the number keys and to enter the
frequency (including the decimal point) you want
to store.
3. Press E to store the frequency into the channel.
• If you entered an invalid frequency in Step 2,
Error appears and the scanner beeps three
times. Enter a valid frequency.
• The scanner automatically rounds the entered
number to the nearest valid frequency.
For example, if you enter 151.473 (MHz), your
scanner accepts it as 151.475.
• When you enter a frequency into a channel, the
scanner automatically turns on the delay
function and DLY appears. When delay is turned
on, the scanner automatically pauses scanning
Operation 2 seconds after the end of a transmission before
scanning proceeds to the next channel. To turn
the function off or on, press Func + Dly.
• If you enter a frequency that has already been
entered elsewhere, the scanner sounds an error
tone and displays the channel that was
duplicated. If you entered the frequency by mistake,
press then enter the correct frequency.
To enter the frequency anyway, press E to
4. To program the next channel in sequence, press
E then repeat Steps 2 and 3.
