What processors will are compatible with an hp 3396 motherboard

That motherboard uses the CPU Socket 1155 LGA. Pretty much any processor for that socket should work. (Source: http://browser.primatelabs.com/geekbench2/1112660)

Popular CPUs for this board are:
  1. Intel Core i5-3570
  2. Intel Core i7-377

Help my lg 520 restarts while woking on it and the tempreture reaches 70's when in a cool room and it happens more when using battery not direct charging?

I suggest that the laptop is dirty inside.
Air flow inside the laptop is the main cooling source.

A Processor will turn off if it overheats. It's a fail safe feature built into the Processor. (BIOS turns it off)
This is to keep the Processor from burning up.

(A Processor is the 'Brain' of a computer)

The cooling components of the LG 520 (LG A520?), are the Fan Assembly, Cooling Tube, and Heatsink.

The Cooling Tube is a slightly flattened copper tube, sealed on both ends, and filled with Nitrogen.

The tube shaped Cooling Tube has two small metal plates attached to it, at one end.
One plate sits on top of the Processor, and the other plate sits on top of the graphics chipset. (G.P.U.)

Heat is absorbed by the two small metal plates, from the Processor, and graphics chipset.
The heat is then absorbed by the Cooling Tube.

On the opposite end of the Cooling Tube is the Heatsink.
The Heatsink is a small piece of metal, with Tall, thin fins protruding from it.

The Heatsink absorbs the heat from the Cooling Tube, then the Tall, thin fins radiate the heat away.

Air flow from the Fan Assembly, (Which is right next to the Heatsink), helps to carry heat away from the fins of the Heatsink.

Point?
There is usually a fibrous type of filter next to the fins of the Heatsink.
This can become clogged with 'Gunk'.

The fins can become clogged with 'Gunk'.
('Gunk' = Dirt/dust/hair/food crumbs/spider webs/etc)

The fan blades, center hub, and surrounding cage, can become clogged with 'Gunk'.

This will lower the cooling capacity of the cooling system tremendously.

Suggest you have the inside of the laptop cleaned out.
You may also wish to use an inexpensive laptop cooler pad, under the laptop.

[ Basic example;

I don't know technical terms but there is a 4screw x that holds the sink to the mother board just to the right of the x is a small square over a chip is the square super to have a pad on it or no pad and...

Let me see if I can decipher what you have stated killa_klowns, and offer a solution.

1) The Processor has a Heatsink on it, or a Heatsink/Fan combo. Depends on what the computer manufacturer designer wanted to implement.

{Some computers have a Heatsink/Fan combo sitting on the Processor.
Other computers just have a Heatsink sitting on the Processor, and air is provided by a Front computer case fan pushing air through a plastic cover onto the Heatsink}

Typical design for a Heatsink/Fan combo (Stock design. LGA 775 processor socket. Also, not a gamer type of rig),

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=5205492&CatId=493

Photos showing typical Intel Pentium 4 processors. Shows the top of the Processor's case that the Heatsink sits on,

http://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/Pentium_4/Intel-Pentium%204%203.0%20GHz%20-%20RK80546PG0801M%20%28BX80546PG3000E%29.html

Where the headings state > Specifications - Pictures (5) - CPU ID (1) - Comments (15),

Thermal Paste should be used on the top of a Processor's case.
If there is a Thermal Pad, take it off, and fly it at the cat.
They're JUNK!

[ Always Thoroughly clean the top of a Processor's case, and the bottom of the Heatsink, before applying fresh new Thermal Paste. Same thing for every chipset.

> Observe Anti-Static Precautions A Processor is the most susceptible hardware component to Static shock.

Use a plastic scraper to clean the top of the Processor's case, and the bottom of the Heatsink.
I use an old credit card.

Then use Q-tips dipped in Isopropyl Alcohol (Rubbing alcohol) to clean the top of the Processor's case, and the bottom of the Heatsink.
May take several Q-tips dipped in alcohol. Usually a gooey mess.

CAUTION!!
Isopropyl Alcohol is EXTREMELY FLAMMABLE!
Use in a Well ventilated area with No sparks or flames present ]

The next chipset in line to use a Heatsink is a Northbridge chipset.
Termed Northbridge, for one, because in relation to how it is sitting on the motherboard, it is to the North of the motherboard.

On the motherboard the Northridge chip sits below the Processor.

The Northbridge chip may, or may Not have clips which hold the Heatsink on.
When no clips are used, > Thermal Glue is used to hold the Heatsink on.

{The motherboard chipset is the Northbridge chip, and the Southbridge chip.
Note* This info does Not apply to motherboards that support the Intel Core i3, i5, i7, or i9 processors}

The Super I/O chipset does Not use a heatsink.

Tell me what the motherboard manufacturer name, and Model Number is, and I can give you more detailed info about that motherboard.

Amd athlon heatsink

Hi,
If you don't install the heat sink and fan carefully you could blow out your processor. Make sure you clean all the old heat sink paste from the processor and the heat sink. Then apply a thin layer of paste like "arctic silver" on the heat sink so that it makes full contact with the processor. I think you have a socket A processor...so do a google search for "installing a socket A processor" and you should have all the info you need. Good Luck...Hank

Is it possible fit replacement heatsink backplate?

Hi: The plastic heatsink mounts are available online, especially on ebay, and pay close attention to the type you have, the 2 hole mount. Another good option is to purchase aftermarket coolers, such as from Antec, Zalman or Cooler master. Every one I bought, came with the fan, heatsink, and mount.

Heatsink for Dell Precision T5400

Actually what you need is a Heatsink & Fan for a Intel "Xeon" Processor. I believe some of these came with dual core and quad core CPU's. So make sure as to EXACTLY what type processor you have and look for a heatsink for that.

Or, you can call Dell directly and purchase it from them. Dell sometimes uses Fan tunnels in there machines, instead of directly mounting the fan on the CPU.

I hope this info helps, please rate my solution. Have a great day!
