Hi, I've had this problem with the M-VR400 and apparently I had the Tape2 Monitor button pushed on, and I was trying to listen to Video-1. Well, mentally I said I have nothing connected to Tape2 Monitor so I figured the machine couldn't decide on sound Input properly, so I turned off that button and my Surround Sound came back on just like Magic! :) Hope that helps.

You really need to be a little bit more specific. Do you have everything connected properly, according to the manufacturer's requirements? In our database, I show the Sony SA-W10 listed as a Subwoofer. Are you located outside the U.S.?

Do you have output going to your headphones? Also, try without the sub. Make sure your have the proper speaker output sets. Some models have option for multiple speakers, and this setting needs to be correct. You can connect the surround to the back of the amplifier, it should work. You need to determine where the problem lies, so testing every possible configuration is your best option. Do you have the manual for this unit?

If the sound is a scratchy type of sound then the voice coil has been damaged and is rubbing up against the internal magnet producing the scratching and low sound since the cone is barely moving;.

I have a sony sub model sa-wm20 will it work with this mini system

Read the manual.

You would use the Speaker Terminal hookup option. Your front speakers would attach to the sub's speaker terminals.

Sony SA-VA10 Shelf System Powered Monitor Speakers. Constant Buzz .. around 1K . .sounds like power supply. Not attenuated by increase in amp volume. Help

Secondly sounds like the power supply filter capacitor has gone bad. Write down the value off the label and purchase one at your local electronics parts place. It will only be two solder leads to unsolder and solder back. But first check the other place for that symptom, an open ground near the input jack going into the amplifier, or broken input wire/plug.

Sony SA-VA10

Hi, Have you been able to locate the cable for your Sony speaker system? Thats a shame that they would take just the cable. Anyways, I have the sa-va10 model just like you. I just upgraded to a new sound system. And I have the cable. Tho, I m sure somewhere on the net, like ebay, amazon or even Sony should be able to help you. I would call them. Those speakers are not that old, and maybe Sony still has a ton of those cables in stock. Esp. since the system is only around 14 years old. Relatively thats still pretty new.

Help with Sony SA-VA100, No Sound!!!

Your best bet is to actaully purchase a better CD player, which sucks because it sounds like the one that Sony sent you in the VIAO system is defective. I would contact the merchant that you purchased the system from and demand them to replace the defective drive.

I hope this helps.
