You should be able to connect this to your television quite easily , there should be a port on the side or back of the screen that has 15pins and is blue this is the VGA, DSUB connector.
you will need a VGA cable which can be bought quite cheaply from ebay connect it to this port and to the same port in the back of your tv.
you can also use Svideo connection which is the circular one , once connector go to display properties and choose display and connect to remote display or something similar on different versions of windows.
This TV was built in 2004. Im sure that was a typeo. This needs a chassis rebuild. Contact Mitsubishi to see what they offer. Otherwise it will need sveral capacitors to repair this on 4 different boards.
When you have the laptop connected to the telivision are you running both displays? In other words is the screen on for the laptop and the telivision at the same time? Sometimes if both displays are on you cannot run programs on both. When you use the FN key and press the display button(usually F5) it should cycle thru each time you press it. Try pressing it until you only have the display showing on the televison only. Doing this should make the telivision the main display.
If you have video for the menu, then probably you aren't on the correct selection for your video source. What are you trying to watch and how is it connected to your television? S-Video, Composite (Y with separate RW audio) or Component (RGB).
Note: DO NOT connect standard VIDEO or S-VIDEO to Input 2 when using Y-CbCr (Component) input.
