My MTD will not move when I put it in forward or reverse

MTD utilizes a 2 belt variable pulley system. The first step if you lose drive is to attempt to reset the system. Place in neutral and let clutch out with speed selector in highest position or press the motion pedal all the way down. Then attempt to drive at a moderate speed. If still no motion then check both belts. Be sure they are on all the pulleys. The rear/upper belt should have tension on it all the time. The front/ lower belt will be loose when the clutch is depressed and will tighten when released or the motion pedal is depressed.

Isuzu trooper gearbox problems

You need to be a bit more specific when describing your problem. By "not getting any gears" do you mean (A) the shift lever will not move into position to select a gear?, or (B) shifts into gear position, but does not move? For (A), try reverse (it is not synchronized); Do you get a grinding of gears sound when you try to engage it? If so, this sounds like a problem with the hydraulic clutch release system. If it gets low on fluid, it will not release enough to let you put it in gear. top off the reservoir(tiny 1/2 cup sized one on driver side fender under hood below and to the right of the brake master cylinder) and frantically pump the clutch pedal about 100 times (that\'s right, 100!)
If the tranny goes into gear but the vehicle won\'t move, this sounds like either the clutch disc is worn too thin to grab, or something is broken in the driveline. Try locking the hubs and putting it into 4WD and see if it moves then. If so, then the rear wheel driveline or driveshaft has a problem. Good luck!

Some of that model had an unusual clutch mechanism, which has probably broken due to wear. Read here

In the event yours is instead fitted with a hydraulic clutch, either

- the hose has split
- the clutch throwout lever has broken or collapsed

My 1998 Honda civic ex won't move but the motor

Have you just replaced the clutch? Taken out the transaxle, and put it back in? Are you sure transmission was in good condition before this? If so, review your procedure carefully to be sure you got it all back right.
Watch the slave cylinder while someone depresses clutch. You should see the little plunger move slightly out and move the clutch lever back. The lever moves the release bearing inside bell housing into contact with the pressure plate. If slave cylinder doesn't move at all, try bleeding again. The plunger has to move when clutch is engaged.
I'm not sure what you mean by "will shift but won't go into gear". You mean it's actually going into a gear position and car won't move? Or it won't go into any gear, period. As if you had no clutch?

4 cyl car will "rev"

It sounds like either the clutch plate or pressure plate. Can you move the car in gear without too much trouble? Some resistance, but can be done! Then you will need to replace the clutch and pressure plates.

It is most likely suspects.

I don't quite get you, if the belt is running but the rear axle is not turning then your transmission is shot. If the belt is running and the rear axle is spinning with no forward or backward motion, then someone took the back wheels off and put them back on without installing the keyways.

Gear shift won't move out of Park unless I put a key in the shift release

Sounds odd... but check your brake lights, the brake must be depressed to activate the release solenoid.

May be your brake light switch or just not depressing the brakes fully...
