Question about Washing Machines

1 Answer

Machine will not agitate

How do I know if the pressure switch is working. It has 120 volts AC going to it, but I am not sure the relay is switching when full. I metered it and got resistance on the common and the one side, but not on the other even if I blow in it and get it to trip. Thanks.

I meter from terminal 7 and 15 and get continuity. When I blow in the valve, it goes dead. I meter terminal 7 and 16, dead either way and the samr dead reading from 15 and 16. Does this sound like a bad switch?

I went and bought a new pressure switch, works fine, Thanks! Best part is a have a lifetime warrenty on the new switch. Since GE put 3 new ones in when I first bought the machine, I figured it was worth the $8.

The pressure switch is a air diaphram switch.
afix your meter then remove the tube that goes from the switch to the tub at the tub and with your mouth blow into the end of the tube like you are filling a balloon the switch should click softly and your meter should show conductivity

yes this sounds like a bad switch;( this is the gold colored , round metal can in the knob area of the control panel right? air in the tube is compressed by the weight of the water in the tub

this closes the switch contacts to agitate the machine so; to be sure, plug in the machine; set your timer for agitate; and blow into the switch tube if the machine doesn't agitate the switch is bad

Ge washer GFWS3500L0WW Has no power on the control board...Its dead...I get 120 volts at the door switch but nothing back out that returns to the control is this a faulty door switch?

Not likely that the door switch is killing the power to the control board.
It may stop the machine from going through cycles, but it shouldn't turn off the control. It's probably that the door switch has one side always powered and they connect it to the other side of AC when they want it to engage or the relay for the door switch happens to be stuck in this mode when the control board went out.

My frigidair flexcare washer. Is there a reset button incase it was accidently overloaded?

Check the Door if the door safety switch is not made the Drum will NOT function ( Agitate Spin ) check nothing is preventing door from closing completely check nothing is in door switch if all looks OK try pressing down on the door were the door switch activator is just might not be making contact , if you know how to use and have access to a test meter you can check for continuity in the door switch can also test by jumping out the switch if you know how Caution it is usually 120 Volts AC so only perform electrical work when machine is unplugged

Ion tailgater speaker - changed the ac switch from 240 to 120 and now it wont work? Live in uk if it helps

Hi
The fact that you live in the UK is key to this. The mains voltage in the UK is normally 220 - 240 volts and your system should be set to 240 volts. If you changed the voltage switch to 120 volts and then tried to use it, you will have connected circuitry within the box designed for 120 volts to 240 volts. This will have damaged some of the circuitry for sure.
Your best bet is to return the ac switch to 240 volts and hope that the 120 volt and 240 volt sets of circuitry are completely isolated from each other within the box, so that resetting the ac switch will allow the kit to work.
I strongly suspect that the kit will need to be professionally repaired, and will be useless until it is.
Not perhaps the answer you would have preferred but hopefully of some help, if so would you please register that with Fixya
Cheers

General Electric Washing Machine want agitate. The washer fills, spins, drains but simply stops agitating or washing during different cycles. I have checked the lid switch, coupling under the agitator and...

The water level switch may be going bad. As the water level rises to the proper level, it switches a set of contacts inside to stop the water fill and cause the machine to start agitation. Make sure machine is empty before you replace the water level switch---it works off of air pressure from a small hose attached to it.

Hi I have a power issue to my ac compressor on my 97 chevy 3500 checked the fuses and the relay and both pressure switches seem to b working dont know what else to look for

Not sure I follow you.
Power goes from the ac relay to the low pressure switch, then the high pressure switch, then to the ac clutch. The clutch is grounded nearby.
Are you saying you don't have power at the clutch or any of the switches ? Do you have power on the lite green wire coming out of the relay ?

I have a 02 lincoln ls . the air conditiong is not working . i took it to a local shop they check the compressor, fuses, relays, pressure swithches, all is checcking out good. They jump the compressor...

YOU COULD HAVE OPEN OR SHORT IN THE BLACK YELLOW WIRE GOING TO AC COMPRESSOR CYCLING PRESSURE SWITCH. CHECK FOR A SHORT OR OPEN IN RED YELLOW WIRES AT THE AC PRESSURE CUTOFF SWITCH. USE VOLT METER AND CHECK FOR VOLTAGE AT BOTH SWITCHES. PROBLEM COULD BE IN THE EATC MODULE THAT SEND POWER TO PURPLE WIRE THAT FEEDS THE AC PRESSURE CUTOFF SWITCH AND AC CLUTCH CYCLING PRESSURE SWITCH THEN FEEDS THE AC COMPRESSOR CLUTCH SOLENOID.

That fan switch is for the heating mode, when the burner starts, that switch won't allow the blower to come on until the combustion chamber is warm, so you won't have cold air blowing out of the ducts in the winter. It's usually set at about 120°. If your getting 24 volts to the blower relay for cooling and the blower doesn't come on then check across
the relay points for the blower and if you have
120 volts and the blower isn't running then that relay is bad and needs replaced.

Won't start

take an AC VOLT Meter and place the leads of the meter where the power cord terminates, one on the white lead and one on the black. There should be 110-120 volts AC. If that is good then move one of your meter leads to the other side of the on switch. With the on switch ON there should be 110-120 volts AC.If that is good, you may want to connect the motor directly to wall current to ensure that it is good. BE VERY CAREFULL IF YOU DO THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Before you do anything be sure to make sure that there is not a breaker or reset button somewhere on the machine that has been overlooked.

GE Washer-Doesn't Fill When it Supposed to.

It is most likely a pressure switch. This is the water level switch. As water fills the tub, air pressure builds up in the rubber hose going to the switch. When the pressure is high enough for the water level setting, it trips the switch and puts the unit in wash cycle. Remove the control and start the machine. While it is agitating, remove the hose from the switch and see if the washer starts filling. If so, blow through the hose and see if something has clogged it. If you have a volt/ohm meter you can check across the terminals while you blow into the switch to see if it is working. Let me know what you find out.
