Re: no monitor n620c loptop
To switch between monitor modes (internal/external) you have to press the key combination Fn+F4 (or F8) or the F key with a dual monitor icon printed on it. This happens when you use the laptop with an external monitor or projector, and you forget to return to the internal monitor mode.

I'm sorry but I could not find anything about this motherboard / machine. However most laptops have the facility to plug in a monitor via a VGA port on the machine. If doing this works then check settings on your computer to ensure that it is not set to only display on an external monitor. If it doesn't work, try booting your computer in "safe" mode (Press F8 during boot) if you can see anything either during boot or with ext monitor. If all these fail then probably the graphics section of your motherboard has probably failed and a new motherboard will be required to solve the problem unless the graphics card is separate (unusual in a laptop of this age).
Did you try to attach an external monitor to the VGA port?
Please start by making sure the Power on the Toughbook
is completely OFF. Then plug-in an external monitor to the
VGA port. Turn the monitor on first, then power-on the
CF28 Toughbook. (This is the same procedure for any
model of Toughbook). The external monitor only may turn on,
or sometimes both the external monitor AND internal LCD
may turn on simultaneously. If the external monitor does turn on,
then you may be faced with a burnt-out LCD.

Your video card is bad. A bad LCD or backlight lamp would not prevent an external monitor from working. Even without a hard drive or Windows installed you would still get a text display on your screen. Some laptops have replaceable video cards but some are soldered to the motherboard and can't be replaced. This is a job for a repair shop, not a DIY project.
take that oppurtunity when your on safe mode, goto system restore and have your system back when it was on normal operation, try it other than reinstalling your system,i think this is not a hardware problem from your monitor, doing this in all program,go to accessories, then system tools, then go to system restore click it and have select a previuos date that your computer work normal say" on april 1,then click it have it process just keep patience there a couple time to process this until the computer will tell you it was finished, just follow some instruction, maybe some file are missing on your vide card to hook up the monitor.have a nice day
This is usually a sign of bad ram. remove the ram cover underneath, pull aside the pop out clips and remove the ram. hold the ram by its side and try not to touch the 'gold fingers'. Clean it / them with a soft clean paint brush along with their holders and re-insert. If this does not work and you have 2 sticks of ram then try each one on its own in one slot, then the other slot, turning on each time to identify the faulty module.
If this is no joy I would suspect the CPU. It could also be the motherboard video chip which is not repairable without a new motherboard but this is doubtful as it is not a common fault on this laptop.
Hope this helps some.
