Please let us know which Operating System you are using.

If you are using Windows, you can find the version like this:

Press and Hold the "Windows Logo Key on your keyboard" (Four wavy squares) + Press the "Pause Break" Key and release both.

Hey you need to install the latest chipset driver of your motherboard and also the usb driver.

You can get this driver from your motherboard brand website.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of.(from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones)
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Goodluck!

If you have garantee from manufacture, use it. If not... you can find program for format you flash drive, but you need to know your manufacture and chipset on your flash drive. for example. I have MyFlash from A-Data, chipset/controller is USBest UT161-T6G. I found a program to unlock my flash drive. Good luck to you!

Will not format - unknown capacity -

it's works on unknown capacity format problem

Requirements: A "corrupt" USB thumb/flash drive, and windows vista/7.

First of all, RESTART YOUR PC...(this is the only way it worked for me...hopefully it works the same for you)

1. Plug-in your USB flash drive to USB port.

2. Open Command Prompt with admin rights. Use any of the below methods to open Command Prompt.

*Type cmd in Start menu*

3. You need to know about the USB drive a little bit. Type in the following commands in the command prompt:

>>> First type DISKPART and hit enter to see the below message. (this opens the disk-partition manager)

>>> Next type LIST DISK command and note down YOUR FLASH DRIVE'S Disk number (eg: Disk 1). BE CAREFUL NOT TO CHOOSE YOUR PRIMARY HARD-DRIVE.

4. Next type all the below commands one by one. Here I assume that your disk drive no is "Disk 1".If you have Disk 2 as your USB flash drive then use Disk 2.Refer the above step to confirm it.
So below are the commands you need to type and execute one by one:

SELECT DISK 1

CLEAN

CREATE PARTITION PRIMARY

SELECT PARTITION 1

ASSIGN

FORMAT FS=NTFS
(Format process may take few minutes)

EXIT

If you did everything exactly, then your USB drive should be goos as new.

Can you try connecting it to a different computer?
If it still does not work, then you have a "hardware" problem.
Remove the disk-drive from the enclosure, and temporarily attach it as a "slave" disk-drive in a desktop computer, to see if bypassing the USB-to-disk-drive interface will bypass the problem.

Unless it's windows 98 you don't need a driver. If your computer can't see it, it's probably broken. Try plugging it in to another computer and see if it can see it
