Question about Cub Cadet Street Sign- tractor lawn riding mower parts

1 Answer

I have a Cub cadet Z force. The hydraulic air breather cap on the right side has been missing for a while. After about 45 minutes of mowing I lose power in the right side. If I sit for a few minutes it will move again. I pulled the bottoms off the pumps. The hydraulic oil was yellow and runny on the right side. The left side was darker and thicker. I am trying to find out how much and what type of fluid I need.

Hi foxlocks,

thank you for using fixya.

with regard to your query, you can use any synthetic based oil (80w 90) to have the old one changed, but it is strongly recommended that you use the Gear Oil that Cub Cadet manufactures or OEMed on. This Specific oil is available from the dealer where you got the Cadet.

or you can order it online with free shipping. Cub Cadet Gear Oil free shipping from Cub Cadet

As per the amount of oil to be used, you may want to refer to the owners manual or you can get the manual online as well.

Hope this helps, should you have other questions, please do not hesitate to let me know.

regards,

Voodoo

Cub Cadet HDS-2135 13B-214F100, runs great for 45 - 60 minutes then cuts out, only run on full choke, cannot mow but runs. Cools down works fine again

check the fuel filter and fuel line. it may need to be insulated to protect from heat. running on choke means it is starving for fuel . take the carburetor off and clean it real good. be sure the fuel lines are away from heat source.

Cub cadet dies 20 minutes after starting

Slacke off the fuel filler cap when it starts to die, if it picks up again the fuel tank breather is blocked.

If you have access to an electric voltmeter, with it running check voltage at the battery. The engine should charge the battery and maintain system voltage so that the electic PTO will function. The electic PTO will not pull in if system voltage is too low.

Check your crankcase breather (on side of block) . It could need cleaning/replacing and is loaded with oil/sludge causing this excessive blow-by to occur. Also check the tube running from the breather to the air filter housing. Make sure it is clean and clear.
