Does the front of the pump filter just unscrew counterclockwise?

Thanks so much! It worked great. It was very hard to unscrew, and I was afraid that there may have been some other step I was missing. With your advice, I felt comfortable taking it off, and cleaning the filter out. (Oh, and thanks for the tip on the amount of water that comes out of that thing! The "let it drip out a little at a time" method worked like a charm. )

The pump reservoir cap turns counter-clockwise to remove. You may want to review this link to assist you as well:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r385844-checking_drain_pump_kenmore_elite_front

The advice in the link I gave you may make things a bit easier and help you avoid the big mess that is usually associated with cleaning these pumps. Sometimes the cap can stick and become difficult to turn. You have to be careful about using anything for leverage as the cap is plastic and can be damaged. If you have questions, please let me know. I hope you find this helpful.

Where is my pump filter whirlpool duet front load washer

When your Whirlpool washing machine won't drain, there's a possibility that the drain filter is clogged. The drain filter is designed to catch lint, change, credit cards and all the other things that find their way into the washer. Whirlpool washer models that have a drain pump filter are easy to disassemble so that you can access and check it. Before you go to the minimal amount of trouble it takes to check the filter, however, take a look at the drain hose behind the washer to ensure it isn't kinked.
1 - Unplug the washing machine. Lift the front end and place two-by-four blocks under each foot to keep the front elevated. 2 - Unscrew the three screws at the bottom of the panel, using a Phillips screwdriver. Remove the panel. The drain pump assembly is directly in front of you, in the middle of the machine. 3 - Unscrew the knob on the drain pump by turning it counterclockwise. Hold a bucket in front of the pump while you remove the knob to catch the water. There may be as much as 2 or 3 gallons. 4 - Turn the knob over. The filter is on the back. Check the filter and remove any debris or lint. Replace the drain filter onto the pump. Screw on the access cover. Take the machine off the blocks and plug it in.

My GE front load washer WBVH5200J1WW washer pauses at the 13 minute point in a 59 minute cycle, It shows no error codes

I would inspect the pump. It could be draining to slow. There should be a small door at the bottom of the machine. Pop the door and you'll have access to the pump filter. The filter unscrews from the pump housing counterclockwise. There will be some water that will come out. Using a wet vac, slowly unscrew the filter until there is a small amount of water coming out. Have the vaccuum on and ready. Vaccuum till there is no more water. If you don't have a wet vac, then a couple towels will do the trick. Completely unscrew the filter and pull it out. Hopefully you will find, a nest of change/hair/bra wire/bobby pin ect. I've seen it all :-) Once you have cleaned the filter or failed to find anything, reach with your finger into the right side of the housing, there will be a hole. Reach until you feel the impeller. It should have 4 fins and shouldnt have a lot of play. The pump will need to be replaced if this is the case. If this doesn't help, then you should have a tech come out. Find a small time repair place with little overhead. This is where you will usually find the best prices AND service.

I do not seem to be able to undo the filter on my whirlpool washing machine, does it just unscrew, or unscrew and pull. I can unscrew it, but it does not pull out.

Hi, Unplug the machine. Take a cake pan and put it under the handle for the filter. Unscrew counterclockwise slowly. Water will start to come out. When pan is partially full, retighten filter and dump water. Repeat until no more water comes out. Then completely unscrew filter and pull out and clean. Hope this helps.

If you are talking about the drain pump strainer, you need to remove the lower front panel. should be 3 screws on the bottom facing forward. Once you have that off, the pump strainer is almost in the center, facing you. unscrew it counterclockwise to remove.

Washer won't spin fast water doesn't drain

Remove your bottom front kick panel, usually two to three screws on the very bottom front of the washer. Unplug washer, have a lot of towels ready to mop up the water that comes out of the washer. In the very center front of the washer is the round plastic drain pump filter for the washer. Unscrew this a little,(turn the plastic screw counterclockwise) and let the water drain completely as you soak it up with your towels. When it is completely drained, unscrew the filter the rest of the way and clean out all the debris in the filter and inside its receptacle. Reinstall everything and test. I recommend you do this at least every 6 months. If this doesn't work then you may have a bad water pump. Good Luck, Appliance Specialists
