I just got my ds lite a week ago and it was working fine, at first. I'm using an Edge and I downloaded some games from the store I got it from and all the games worked fine.
But when I got to downloading my own games (I download from frozen-roms and nds-roms) some games would save my game and the others would not. For example, I downloaded WarioWare Touched and it's working fine, but I download Rhythm Heaven and it's working fine but it's not saving my game. My other games that don't save are Princess Debut, Gardening Mama, and Harvest Moon.
Another example would be that I took some games from my sister's Edge (she uses a plain ds) which work and save on her ds but when I play it on mine, it doesn't save.
The only modification I've done with my ds lite is add a skin to the Moonshell I have (I'm not sure why I have moonshell and Edge) and I'm not sure if it's related to the problem. (Just to clarify, I access my games through the Edge, not through the Moonshell).
I'm definitely thinking that the software isn't the problem with the games, since they work with other people's consoles. Please help!

Occasional lockups with video gamescan happen from time-to-time and do not necessarily indicate a need for repairor replacement. If you are experiencing frequent lockups, or a particular gamealways locks up in the same area, please see the information below.
Make sure you are using onlylicensed accessories. Unlicensed products and accessories do not undergoNintendo's testing and evaluation process. They may not work at all with ourgame systems, and they may have compatibility problems with certain games oraccessories.
Check for visible contamination orforeign material on the connector pins of your Game Cards or Game Paks. Ifpossible, try the Game Card in another Nintendo DS or Nintendo DS Lite.
If the game works properly inanother system, the problem is with your Nintendo DS Lite.
(from nintendo troubleshootingguide)
The pins on the cartridge slot get oxidation and dirt on them. The game cards also get dirty. Pick one game card and carefully cut little strips of extra-fine sand paper. Use a stylus to rub gently each contact on the game card. They should become shiny gold again. Blow it off with compressed air and insert it into the DS. Do not attempt to clean inside the DS.
According to information provided by the manufacturer, Nintendo products made for use within the U.S. are not desgined for overseas use. This unfortunately means that games purchased within the U.S. may not function correctly when used in a DS Lite purchased in Europe.
Some of the most common reasons why this restriction would be in place are potential language barriers (for warnings, operating instructions and disclaimers), as well as differing government regulations between the two regions regarding the product's warranty or potential safety/electrical concerns.
While some users may report cross-compatiblity between foreign consoles and select game titles, this cannot be guaranteed in every instance. Nintendo itself has suggested only purchasing games for the DS Lite (and other consoles) in the region where the DS Lite itself is purchased.
had this problem, i looked into where the game goes and one of the little metal teeth was bent, so i took a long toothpick and gently pushed it back over now it works fine. Be careful that you dont break it off though.
