Question about Acer Aspire M1641-U1521A PC Desktop
Cant connect to internet my isp says ipconfig isnt right model aspirem1610 problem started a while after i hooked up a wireless modem now i disconnected my router and go directly from the modem and it still doesnt work
Well, first thing I would do is wire everything up and not go wireless just yet.
So from the wall, to the modem, to the router, then to the computer.
If you don't have internet then AND (if you haven't already done so) unplug and replug the modem and router. And see if you have internet again.
What it seems that you were trying to do was do an ip reset within your system. (using ipconfig)
Basically, how you do an ip reset is as follows:
1. Hit Start button and go to Run..
2. In the space, type in the letters (no quotes) "cmd", and hit OK.
3. That will bring up a black screen (command prompt).
4. Type in "ipconfig" and hit Enter (make a mental note of what the IP Address and Default Gateway is)
5. Now type in "ipconfig /release" (letting go of that information)
*side note: if you were to do an ipconfig again, you would see all Zeros*
6. Now type in "ipconfig /renew" (acquiring new IP information from the router)
Try now to get up on the internet and hopefully all is well. As far as going wireless with this computer, you'll also need a wireless receiver as well to plug into the computer (via PCI slot or preferably USB) because you'll need more than just a wireless router for a computer (not counting "most" laptops).
Just make sure everything is wired up first.

Let's setup DHCP then for you.
go to please...
start, control panel, network and sharing centre,
manage network connections, right click the LAN connection and choose properties, double click internet protocol ver 4, when the dialog box appears, check that you are configured here for
" obtain an I.P address automatically "
click this circle if not,
you are now setup for DHCP
auto I.P. address assignment.
try the internet now
