My sony camcorder hasn't shut since last year. I have absolutely no idea why it won't close or what is causing it not to close. Hopefully you guys know what to do. Thanks

I had the same problem with my SONY DV Cam. The door would not shut with a tape inserted. I quit using it for about 3 or 4 months, then I thought of something. I removed the flip-up cover on one tape and tried the camcorder. It works just fine, now! It had something to do with the mechanics when the camera would open the tape to begin use. This may help someone with a similar issue....
However, my mother-in-law has a Canon ES75 with the same problem. I just tried the same thing with a tape, to no avail. I'm now in search of other things to try.

I insert the tape hear some wirring noises but no click. The tape stays in the up position and does not drop.
