If you ask the person who set the password, they should be able to solve this issue. You could also Google the solution.

My appoligies, but due to the nature of this question our experts do not wish to assist in any illegal activity. If you are the legitimate owner of this PC, the solution is simple and can be obtained through a quick Google search.

I'm not sure if this will work but it may be that your system bios is asking for a password. If so, as you reboot the system, press F8 down until the system bios screen appears. Then page thru to see if the bios is asking for a system password. If so, you should be able to deactivate it thru the bios.

Hope this works.

Wont run windows at all. Says: \WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM

You have a corrupt registry and it needs to be replaced.
Doing a System Restore will do this. Since you cannot run it from the hard drive, you will have to boot from a Windows DVD.
Here is the procedure

Gateway login

What sort of problem at log in >>?????
Forgot password ?
A "setup password" is a password that you must enter to log into a user account on your Gateway laptop.

This can be beneficial if you have a number of people using the same computer and don't want just anyone having access to your personal files.

But if you are the sole user of your Gateway laptop, then it can be more of a hindrance.
As all Gateway laptop computers run a version of the Windows operating system, you can remove the setup password by accessing the Windows Control Panel.

Click on the "Start" menu.

Select the option that reads "Control Panel." If you're running Windows Vista or Windows 7, this will have its own listing in the "Start" menu.

If you're running Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows ME or Windows XP, this will be found under the "Settings" sub menu.

Double click on the icon that reads "User Accounts."
Click on the name of the account that has a setup password that you want to remove.

Click on the "Remove my Password" option.
Enter your current password into the appropriately labeled box.

Click the "Remove Password" option.
Click "OK" to save your changes and exit the "User Accounts" utility.

The setup password will have been removed from your account, and you will be no longer prompted to enter it when you boot up your computer.

Getting locked out of your Gateway computer can be frustrating, especially when you have school or work deadlines.

You can get locked out of your Gateway computer in cases where a password protected screensaver became corrupt, or if the you have set the default screensaver to use a screensaver that does not exist.

Gateway computers come with Microsoft Windows XP and 2000, including the professional versions of both. Knowing how to unlock your a Gateway computer can save you time and irritation.

Press the "Ctrl," "Alt" and "Delete" keys on your keyboard simultaneously to unlock your Gateway computer.

Type the last logged-on user's login information and click "OK" if you see a locked computer message along with "Only domain/username or an administrator can unlock this computer." Press the "Ctrl," "Alt" and "Delete" keys once again when you see the Unlock Computer window disappear. Log on as usual. Method 2

Shut down the locked Gateway computer by using the Microsoft Windows Resource Kit Shutdown tool.

This tool shuts down and restarts a Windows 2000- or NT 4.0-based Gateway computer.
Note the dialog box that comes up called System Shutdown.
Wait for the shutdown timer to run out and see the Welcome to Windows box displayed on the screen.
Press "Ctrl," "Alt" and "Delete," which unlocks the computer.
Log onto your Gateway computer normally.
Method 3: Backup, Modify and Restore the Registry

Click "Start" and "Run," then type in the command below in the field box exactly as printed:
%SystemRoot%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe
Click "Create a Restore Point," then click "Next" on the Welcome to System Restore page that appears.
Type any name for the restore point, then click "Create" on the Create a Restore Point page. Click "Close" after creating the restore point.

Perform this procedure before you make changes to the registry, just in case you make an error; otherwise, incorrect registry changes could create serious problems with your computer.
Click "Yes" if you receive a prompt to turn on System Restore at this point.
Clear the "Turn Off System Restore" check box by clicking on it, then click "OK," and repeat.
Click "Start," then type "regedt32.exe" (without the quotes) in search field box to modify the registry and unlock the computer. Press the "Enter" key on your keyboard.

%SystemRoot%\System32\Restore\Rstrui.exe
Click "Restore My Computer to an Earlier Time" on the Welcome to System Restore page, then click "Next."

Note your computer may already be selected to restore to an earlier time--in this case, just click "Next."
Click the system checkpoint on the Select a Restore Point page. Click "Guided Help (Registry Backup)," then click "Next" on the "On This List Select the Restore Point" area.

Click "OK" if you see a System Restore message listing all the configuration changes it will make. Click "Next" when you come to the Confirm Restore Point Selection page.

Log onto your computer as usual, and then click "OK" when you see the System Restore Confirmation page.

My vizio bluray wont accept my att uverse wifi password. vizio said to change my password. how do i do that?

Please connect the router directly to the computer with a network cable and switch on the router.
It will couple of minutes and your computer should have got a IP address from the router.
Go to command prompt :
1. Click on Start / Pearl / windows Orb
2. Click on Run (windows XP) / Search box (Vista / Windows 7)
3. Type Cmd and hit the enter key.
4. You will be in a black screen (command prompt)
Find the IP address of the router : Type the following
Ipconfig (and hit enter)
you will see the a number in this format - 192.168. X.X next to Default gateway.
Write down that number
Access Router page:
1. Open a browser window - Internet explorer / Mozilla
2. In the address bar type the default gateway address you noted down
3. Click on the Go button / just hit enter.
4. You should get a username & password request screen
Default ones are usually (unless any one has changed it or set differently by the manufacturer - refer the manual also)
Username: Admin or Administrator
Password: password / admin
In this screen you should be able to click on Wireless setting and there you can see your WEP key or you can change it to the one
you wanted

How do you change the password to the security code??

Hello, To change the password you will need to log in to the router interface and change it.
1) We need to log in to the router using the default gateway. Press windows + r u will get a run box..in the run box type CMD and hit enter. You will get a black screen. In the black screen type "ipconfig" and hit enter. Now you will see IP add/ sub net mask and defualt gateway. Make a note of your default gateway. 2) Open internet explorer or any browser and deleted everything from the address bar and type .."http://(default gateway..) (Ex: http://192.168.1.1) and hit enter. 3) Now you will be in the router interface. Now you will see either security or wireless click on the option and find something which says password or wireless security and click on that. 4) Now you will see your existing password. You can either change only the password or change the security type ( WEP or WPA) and click on OK/save. Now remeber that if u change the password you will have to reconnect all your wireless devices and if you are using the same network name( wireless name) then you have get a error on your computers or devices as the network doesnt match the requirements. Hence you can either delete the preferred network from your computer( if you want the same network name). To delete you can go to control panel and manage wireless network and delete the current network name and re-connect or you can change the network name( SSID ) on the router interface to a new name which is not saved on your computer and re-connect to your wireless network using all your devices.
Hope this helped.

If I reset my router, do I need the CD to reconfigure or change the password

You don't actually need the CD to reconfigure your router or change the password or anything related to your router. So long as the router is connected to your computer via ethernet cable you can access the browser configuration page of your router.

1. connect your router to your computer via ethernet cable

2. If you are using Windows XP
- click start
- click run
- type cmd
- in the black screen type ipconfig and press enter
- look for the default gateway (example 192.168.1.1)
- Open Internet explorer
- type in the address bar: http://the default gateway (example http://192.168.1.1) then press enter and it'll ask you for the password
- usually the username is blank and the password is admin or the username is admin and the password is pass or password

If you are using Windows Vista / Windows 7
- Click the pearl button
- Click on start search at the bottom of the pop-up window
- type cmd (don't press enter yet)
- right click the black icon on the top of the window after typing cmd
- click on the run as administrator
- click on continue if there's a prompt
- in the black screen type ipconfig and press enter
- look for the default gateway (example 192.168.1.1)
- Open Internet explorer
- type in the address bar: http://the default gateway (example http://192.168.1.1) then press enter and it'll ask you for the password
- usually the username is blank and the password is admin or the username is admin and the password is pass or password

After successful accessing the configuration page you can now configure your router freely.

The Gateway Recovery Center opens. b Click Recovery, then click Next. Your computer restarts. - OR - 2 If you cannot run Windows: a Turn on or restart your computer. b While the computer is starting up, repeatedly press F8 until the Recovery Options screen opens. If Windows starts to load instead, restart the computer and try again. 3 Press the arrow keys on your keyboard to select Repair Your Computer, then press ENTER. Gateway System Recovery starts, and the System Recovery Options dialog box opens. 4 Select a language and keyboard layout, then click Next. 5 Click the User name box to select a Windows user account, click in the Password box and type the user account’s password (if any), then click Next. The System Recovery Options menu opens. 6 Click Restore Application. The Welcome to Gateway System Recovery window opens. 7 Click Next. 8 To perform a recovery with data backup (recommended), click Recovery with automatic data backup, then click Next. Important Before your hard drive is recovered, your personal files will be automatically backed up to c:\backup. - OR - To perform a full factory recovery without data backup, click Full factory recovery, then click Next. Caution Continuing with the full factory recovery will delete everything on your hard drive. Make sure that you have backed up any important files you want to save. 9 Click Yes, then click Next. The Factory image recovery window opens, which shows you the progress of the system recovery. When recovery is finished, the Recovery is complete window opens. 10 Click Finish, then click Restart.
