Contact a local computer shop or a TV repair shop. Best bet is eBay, look for a completely trashed laptop just for a frame and hinge.

As far as mail-order/online, try this site:

Hope this helps

Cracked screen on a aspire1094z notebook and my external display works only in safe mode

Off hand I suggest you disconnect the Video Cable.

May be mistaken, but I think there is enough damage to the LCD screen, that it is causing only Safe Mode to be used.

Of course it does depend on how the LCD screen was cracked.
Dropped the laptop while it was on? Going to be Harddrive damage, and possibly further damage through the laptop.

Let's start by disconnecting the Video Cable connection, at the motherboard side. Then see if the external monitor works, and in normal mode.

I don't find an Acer Aspire 1094z, but I do find an Acer Aspire 3050-1094.
Acer - Manufacturer
Aspire - Model Series Name
3050 - Model Series Number
1094 - Model Number

If this is incorrect state back in a Comment.

http://www.tim.id.au/blog/tims-laptop-service-manuals/#toc-acer

Go to the 'paragraph' that starts with Aspire 1200. (1200 in Blue)
Drop down to the third line (2930), scroll across; click on the blue - 3050.

[Ignore if you are aware;
This is a PDF file. The computer you are using now has Adobe Reader on it, which uses PDF files.
After you click on the file name (3050) it may take up to 30 seconds, before the first page comes up.

When I refer to a page number, it will be for the Adobe Reader page number box at the Top, to the right of the Down Arrow.

The Zoom In icon ( + ) at the Top increases the view size, when you click on it.
The Zoom Out icon ( - ) decreases the view size.

IF this applies;
Click on the icon at the Top/Left corner. Toggle Slider.
There will be two square icons.
Show Thumbnails on the Left, Show Document Outline on the Right.
Click on Show Document Outline to see the Bookmarks menu ]

1) Remove ALL power. Remove the AC adapter (Charger), and Battery.

2) Laptop closed, normal position except the Back is facing you.
There are two screws to remove, in order to remove the
Keyboard Cover.
Bottom of Page 67, top of Page 68.

Philips head screw, one on EACH side.
They are in the black plastic of the laptop, and next to the silver 'lid'.
(Display Cover = 'Lid')

Turn the laptop around, front facing you; open the laptop.

The Keyboard Cover is the strip of plastic above the Keyboard.
The Hinge Covers are an integral part of this cover.

The Microphone Cable is attached to the Launch Board, and the Launch Board is attached to the bottom of the Keyboard Cover.

For this reason suggest go slow, so you do not damage the cable (Wires); when removing Keyboard Cover.
Once the cover is lifted off, disconnect the Microphone Cable from the Launch Board.

This is an example of the Keyboard Cover removed,

http://www.cdsparts.com/p-379-new-acer-aspire-3050-3680-5050-5570-5570z-5580-middle-keyboard-cover.aspx

Suggest come to the Right side of the cover, and ease it up a little, by inserting a thick guitar pick; into the parting line.
(Where the Keyboard Cover meets the Bottom Cover)

Insert how far? About 1/4th Inch, or half the length of your little finger's thumbnail.

Ease that end up a little, so that you can get a fingertip underneath, then using fingers of both hands; ease up on the top, and bottom side of the cover; as you head towards the Left side.

(Sorry about the run-on sentence)

The cover may just pop off as you start, or you may have to carefully go along, and ease up on it all the way.

To the Left by the left Hinge, you will see motherboard side of the Video Cable.
White piece of Mylar plastic tab to gently pull up on, and this unplugs the Video Cable from the motherboard.

A look at the motherboard side connection of the Video Cable, in a pictorial guide,

http://forum.notebookreview.com/acer/352528-aspire-3050-upgrade-sempron-turion-x2-tl-50-a.html#post4515287

Scroll down to about half page, look at the photo under the heading -
h. remove the long cover, and remove the two screws on the keyboard.

See what looks to be a white piece of tape, over by the left Hinge?
That's the motherboard connection side of the Video Cable, and the white pull tab.

Also details how to replace the LCD screen.
If you wish to do this, I would appreciate a Comment back, so I can give you some tips, and possible guidance if you wish it.

Unplug it. Attach the Microphone Cable again, but leave the Keyboard Cover loose.
(You can't reinstall the cover, because the unplugged Video Cable is in the way )

Reinstall the Battery.
Plug the AC adapter into the laptop, THEN plug the AC adapter into power.
Turn the laptop on.
Any change?

Post back in a Comment.

You are to contact Acer with the issue. If they've written down your comment on the tight operations then (perhaps) you're in luck to get it replaced as per warranty.

When I flip my acer aspire 4315 screen it goes white.

A laptop display is one of the most expensive single parts to replace. It can be frightening to try to boot up your Acer Aspire one day and have it display only a white screen. Unless the screen itself has been broken, the cable between the laptop and the screen has either become disconnected or broken. This is a relatively cheap repair.

Disassembly
1.Disconnect the unit from AC power and remove the battery. This can be done by flipping the unit over, pressing the latch on the bottom of the unit and then pulling the battery away.
2.Remove the two screws revealed by removing the battery. Remove two additional screws set into the corners of the base on the edge where the battery was.
3.Turn the laptop over and open the lid. Remove the panel with the power button on it by gently pulling up from the top edge. Remove the keyboard by gently pulling at its top edge to release the four catches on the sides. Once it is free of the catches, flip the keyboard over and lay it down. If you wish, you can disconnect the ribbon cable leading to it and set the keyboard aside.
4.Unplug the video cable. The video cable is the thick wire coming out of the left hinge of the LCD. It is gray and rounded. The cable terminates in a rectangular plug that goes through the top of the laptop base.
5.Turn your attention to the LCD. Remove the rubber feet at each of the corners of the LCD. Remove the four screws that are revealed.
6.Pull the LCD bezel (the plastic part that surrounds the screen) away from the lid by starting at the top and pulling up and away from the inside with a rolling motion. The bezel is secured by plastic latches all around the outside, and pulling up with a rolling motion is the best way to get them to release without breaking. You can also take your blade or screwdriver and insert it between sections of separated lid and bezel to hold them apart and prevent re-latching. Be careful and patient with this step. Believe it or not, this is where the majority of laptop damage is likely to occur.
7.Remove the two cables connecting the inverter board to the LCD screen and the video cable.
8.Remove the four final screws holding the LCD panel into the lid. Two are at the bottom corners, just above and toward the center from the hinges. The other two are at the top center, holding the webcam and LCD to the lid. You should now be able to pull the LCD out of the lid and lay it face down on the base of the laptop.
9.Remove any tape securing the LCD cable gently, and then tug the cable out of its socket and set it aside.

Replacement and Reassembly
1.Begin by gently inserting the replacement video cable into the socket on the back of the LCD and re-securing the cable with the same tape from earlier. Lift the LCD back into the lid and screw the panel back into place. Finally, re-connect the two cables to the inverter board.
2.Press the bezel back into place with a firm, but not overwhelming, pressure. Each section should "click" when the latch engages and not separate again without effort. Replace the screws holding the bezel in place and then re-cover the screws with the rubber feet.
3.Plug the new video cable into the main board. Use a gentle and even pressure, making sure that everything is lined up. If you disconnected the keyboard, reconnect it and push it gently back into place until the catches reengage. Place the power-button panel back in place and press it down before closing the lid and flipping the laptop over.
4.Replace the four remaining screws and slide the battery back into place. Reconnect the laptop to AC power and turn it on. Your screen should now be functioning normally again!

I hope you find it very helpful. Best regards.

Acer Aspire 9504WSMi lid won't close.

There are no adjustments, it sounds like it fell on the back beding the hinges forward, causing the lid to shift. You can pull the cover to the hinges and see if the look bent, or do not lay flat where they mount

How do i take my Acer Aspire 5532? i want to replace the processor, but the gut's are like a poorly designed obstacle course. :(

Usually the first thing on a laptop is the keyboard, then pry the plate above the keyboard (between lcd and keyboard), this will give access to the lcd hinges and connection. Remember to remove all screws, covers, drives, battery, memory and ethernet card BEFORE taking anything apart. Unplug the lcd, pull the wireless antenna wire through from the bottom of the laptop then remove the lcd. make sure there are no screws through the case from the top. then you simply pry the top off the bottom, be sure to start from the back as the front of the aspires are usually hinge style clips-meaning when you put it together tilt the top toward you, slide the front clips in place locking the front down then press down on th edges from the front to back to snap it together). After the top is off remove screws from the heatsink and fan, disconnect the fan and remove heatsink. There you go, install opposit of removal.

I want to know how to replace a keyboard on an Acer Aspire 5520-5912 laptop

Hi;
Swapping out the keyboard is pretty straight forward:

Remove the battery and unplug the AC Adapter.

Very carefully, pop loose the piece of plastic trim that is below the LCD screen, and on top of the keyboard. It covers the hinges as well. Sometimes there are additional screws on the back of the hinge covers.

Once you get that piece off of the laptop, then remove the screws that secure the top of the keyboard. The keyboard should be able to be lifted up and back, to expose the ribbon connector. You will have to lift the release strip from the ribbon connector to release the ribbon . It is a brown or black part of the connector, and it lifts up about a 1/16 "
Install by reversing the process

I need to replace the keyboard on an Acer Aspire 3680 series laptop

Hi there.
Remove the laptop battery and the AC power supply, open the lid as far back as you can take it.
Get a small flat headed screwdriver, now, you have to take off the keyboard bezel, this is the strip of plastic above the keyboard with the power button on it, the best way to remove it is to start by the on/off button by gently prying the bezel up from the lid hinge, once you have one side out gently pull it up using your fingers, it will unclip and lift away.
Next you have to remove 2 screws from the top of the keyboard, these should be visible to you, once the screws are out carefully lift the keyboard up, you will see a ribbon cable that is connected to the motherboard, gently pull the tab up on the connector that the ribbon cable sits in and it should release it and you can now remove the keyboard and replace it.
To re-assemble just follow my direction in reverse.
Please post back with the results and for any additional advice if needed.

Good luck and thanks for using FixYa!!

Acer hinges hard to open google says known issues, will not fix says normal already cracked case above left cant figure how to open

Hi,

Appreciate the direct "Ask Me".

To your concern; hinge repair is relatively easy, what is more challenging is opening the lid and figuring out how to improve the hinge action to reduce the stiffness of closing the lid. For a pictorial illustration on how to open the lid cover to expose the hinge, please reference this page. For a generic how-to on hinge repair, pls check this out.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information. Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

Laptop keyboard replacement

I had the same problem ... spilled a drink on my keyboard causing the keys to stick

Symptoms:
1) Internet explorer browser always jumps to top of page even when trying to scroll page down
2) Windows explorer can't select any items except the top or upper most item or folder ... top item always stays selected

Solution:
Fortunately, the keyboard is pretty easy to access. According to the service manual ...
1) Unplug the power cord from the wall and laptop
2) Remove the battery pack
3) Remove the lid covering the hard disk drive
4) Remove the hard disk drive and bracket assembly
5) Remove the 2 screws from the battery compartment
6) Unsnap the "Middle Cover" ... that's the small panel between the keyboard and LCD that has the power button located on it
7) The keyboard can now be gently lifted out
