I fill the tank with hot water and the detergent dispenser and then when I try to set it on the machine and snap into place it immediately releases the detergent. The detergent is running out the the bottom. There are no cracks in tanks.

My machine leaked badly BUT it was my own fault. There is a one-time only setup procedure where you squeeze the trigger and push the Clean-Surge button to lock a rod into place. Push the Clean-Surge button VERY HARD. There will be a loud SNAP which sounds like you broke something, but you didn't. I didn't push hard enough initially, all I got was a click which I thought was enough. My machine leaked so I called the help line. They told me to push the button harder, and sure enough, they were right. Until you get that snap, the Clean-Surge (which releases a little extra water-cleaner solution) is on all the time, hence the leaking

    Thanks! It worked.
I had the cleaner solution container off, and the dirty water container and pushed the Clean-Surge button. It didn't click, but it did dump out the residual water. I kept doing that until it wasn't giving any more water and then put the containers on as usual. Started it up and sucked up the water and was happy to see there was no leaking! Yay!

Hi, I'm having the same problem, but i have pushed the surge button down as far as it can go and it's still leaking. The button seems to be stuck on the down position now and doesn't pop back up. Also, I noticed that the prongs for the buttons that stick up from the machine are uneven. One is significantly lower than the other, but the prongs on the bottom of the handle are level with each other. Is this how your's was when you assembled it?

No suction means somewhere in the intake side of the system you have either a blockage or an air leak.

How do I cycle the valves on the bottom with the eraser end of a pencil on my hoover dual vac shampooer

The center part of the valve (stem) pushes up (spring loaded) to release liquid. If it leaks it can (and should) be replaced. Also, check the black valve seal (conical shaped ring around the outside) for cracks or splits as this can contribute to leaks. The entire valve assembly (similar to photo) should be replaced to solve both issues.

I just bought a hoover steam vac model F5914900 and the clean water tank is leaking. I tried pressing the clean surge button and the trigger button that was suggested by someone else but it won't

Go to Hoover.com and find a local Service Station. They will replace it at no charge. MUST be a warranty location to get it free. Take your sales slip with you.

Hoover SteamVac isn't extracting solution from carpet. Motor runs and the brushes weren't turning at first but do now

That vacuum is fine on liquid extraction but often gets clogged by debris when it hits a solid. It would be better to do the clean with the steamvac then follow it with a wet/dry shop vac to be sure you got all the water. I say this because the vac built into that hoover is way too easy to clog.

Hoover Steam Vac V2 Deep Cleaner leaking clean water

Fill the tank and determine if the plastic is leaking, or if the valves are leaking. if the tank is cracked, it would need replaced. There is an improved design now available.

You may cycle the valves on the bottom with the eraser end of a pencil.

Hoover Steam Vac clean water tank valve leaks

a) make sure that there is not a place for a stair attachment. If
there is make sure air is not leaking through where the attachment goes
on because of damaged or misplaced fitting.

b) some steam vacs leave water behind them and **** up in front of
them. If you just walked forwad with the steam vac nothing would be
sucked into the tank.

c) try taking your finger off the trigger and using the steam vac. If
the tank still empties the trigger is stuck open.

d) try putting clean water in the dirty water tank only and using it on
a dry rug. If water goes somewhere from the dirty water tank you have
a leak.

e) take apart what you can and look at the parts. A good visual
inspection can solve many of these types of problem if you are careful
not to miss anything.

Hoover Steamvac Widepath 6500 leaks

You didn't give your model number, but if this is a V2, you may have a crack in the tank, alot of times it is underneath the seal on the bottom. Or the plunger at the bottom of the tank is stuck open or missing.
