Question about HP Photosmart C3180 All-In-One InkJet Printer
Connected to USB port on HP Computer. Ink levels used to display before each print - changed print cartridges, cannot see ink levels anymore. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the software and drivers many times - no change. The HP Solution Center shows a button printer toolbox where I could see the levels, but clicking that button does nothing. Does anybody have a solution? Thank you
Inkjet printers do not detect ink levels period. An estimate of level is made by the software. It calculates the volume of ink that was dispensed during printing pixel by pixel. If you re-install the software the tally is lost. If you want to convince the software that the cartridges are full then go though the procedure of renewing the cartriges but put the old ones back in. If I were you, I'd completely ignore the displayed levels of ink, its worthless technocrap. Your eyes are the best judge of whether the cartridges need replacing or not when you look at your prints.
