Question about Televison & Video

1 Answer

Which flyback should I get and from where?

I've got the same problem as a number of other folks with the GE/Thomson/RCA D52GW12 projection tv: the flyback burnt out (and yes, we're lucky the house didn't burn down). My question is: what is the best replacement part - who makes it, what's the model number - and where can I get one? Ditto for the horizontal whatzamajigger that tends to need to be replaced at the same time. Thanks!

ON our GE D52GW12 52" AFTER TURNING TV ON IT

Try resoldering the flyback transformers connections on the board. Its very common for the flyback pins to develope cracks around the pins which can cause that issue. I would check that first with that model.

Power light blinks but will not turn on

The ge d52gw12 is a ge version of an rca itc 222. i have worked on hundreds of these at the shop and found with the ge modle 95 percent of the time it is a bad flyback transformer and a shorted horizontal output transistor. While there can be any number of things at fault. This is the first thing to check in this model. At our shop this repair averages 100 to 150 to repair. this varies depending on your location.

My tv attemps to turn on sound starts but when picture starts the system turns off.GE model d52gw12

This set shares the same chassis as some of the RCA models so More than likely a problem with the Horizontal deflection or the flyback transformer. Its not really something that the average person should take on and without the proper test equipment you could do more damage than good. But thats a starting point.
