I didn't use window media player, I had some music on my desktop, plugged in the mp3, then dragged the music file over to the mp3 folder, it took about 10 seconds to put a whole album on

You must have Windows Media Player 9 - Upgrade to Windows Media Player 10 or 11 - both of them will have the Sync tab.

Have you tried manually adding the music to the device through windows explorer? I know it will work that way, I've had to do it a few times with my daughters that is the same model yours is.

Help with syncing music to my comp frm my mp3

Generally, you can move music from Windows Media Player to yur mp3 player, but not the other way around. Press the sync button, and set up a sync profile for your mp3 player - then it should recognize the songs that are on there. If that fails, I would reformat the player inside of Windows Media Player to see if that helps any.

Have fun!

How long does take to synk

If you are using media player it will show you exactly where you are up to - the latest version is idiot proof -I know cause I used it easy peasy. Open Media player on the computer go to the sync tab and just drag and drop to your sync list, start sync - it tells you when it is done.
