Question about HP Pavilion dv8235nr Notebook

Xp won't load to hard Disk

I believe it is more complicated than that. I have two of these DV8235 computers. I was able to install Xp on the other computer clean as a whistle. I took that hard drive and installed it in the one that won't load Windows. I get the message of Windows config system is missing or corrupt restart windows with installation disk in place and use R to recover. when I do that and the CD Rom starts , it initally reads the disk and start loading. Sometines at F6 it stops. Sometimes at F2 it stops. Sometimes it starts loading windows and then stops. No matter what hard drive what format what installation, it will not follow all the way thru. this is the only computer I have ever had that would not load a program. I do hear two beeps at post. Even tried to rest the BIOS. It has F24 listed in the setup. Everything in set up looks good, the hard drive checks out. Just won't load windows.

Your RAM modules could be faulty or needs reseating. If reseating doesn't work, try swapping them around from the other laptop to see if that works.

I get a disk read erroroccurred after I have installed a new hard disk. How can I get my computer going again?

The problem is that XP installation CD does not have a SATA driver, unless you have a SATA drive on a disk etc. and can install the driver when XP asks for a hard drive driver then, XP cannot detect the hard disk and therefore won't install XP. The FIX. Go into the BIOS and disable the SATA drive (enable IDE emulation), this will make XP think it is a IDE/PATA hard disk. Then you can install XP normally. When Windows has been installed then install all the device drivers (including the SATA driver), then shut down and boot up and got into the BIOS and enable the SATA drive.

Install windows XP

You sure your HD isn't bad? You could try a low-level format and then try to install, I am assuming you don't mind loosing any data already on the disk.

Set up did not find any hard disk drivers installed on computer

Your notebook has SATA hdd. Got into the bios (keep pressing F2 key on startup) then in the bios screen find HDD and press enter. Select IDE mode. Press f10 to save changes and exit. When this is done install XP.
Alternatively connect external usb floppy drive and unzip sata drivers into that. When booting from xp cd press f6 to load drivers.Follow onscreen instructions to load drivers and continue xp installation.
Please let me know if issue not solved for futher ts steps.
thanx
