Toshiba laptop power cable won't charge battery

It has to be moved to a 'certain' position as if there is a short in the cord. Now no amount of jiggling will work. It's as if the cord isn't plugged in at all.
This is a replacement Kensington Cord.

I am not sure I understand...the power unit in the laptop is potentially bad. Or is it the cord that is bad?

I had the same problem with my HP laptop some years ago. you have a broken cable/cord and it is the part that is permanently attached with your power pack. If you look at the cord that plugs into your laptop, you can be able to see the faulty part of it. it is usually very flexible or swollen. You can either take it to an electrical technician to change that part of the cord. Your power pack is still ok, but have the technician to check it out first before you change the cord. Else, you may have to get another power pack. below is the full specification of the power pack that is recommended for your laptop.

Hi,

I am not sure what will cost you less,
byuing a new power unit or give the actual one for replacement of the cord.

Do not try to do it by yourself - it might be dangerous for you or for the laptop !

Regards.

Let's hope the power unit is O.K. but the cord is broken!
there are two cords, one to plug to the AC wall outlet, and other to plug to the laptop!

Which one do you think is broken?
If AC cord is broken, than it is easy and will not cost you more than 2 EURO to replace it, but if it is the other one, than moving it to 'certan' position to work, might make your power unit to break.

That is why i suggest first to check if the power unit is working, and (if not) to replace with a new one !

This should be done by a qualified person, it might be dangerous to play with 220V.

Toshiba satellite l305d-s5934 Won't charge battery dont power On

POWER SUPPLY & BATTERY PROBLEM
If the laptop battery is more than 3 - 4 years old then the battery could be worn out. Rechargeable batteries have a finite number of charge and discharge cycles and will lose their charge capacity over time, i.e. won't charge to 100% and gradually the charge reduces until the battery won't charge up at all. OR The battery shows a 100% charge but when the adapter is disconnected the battery drops off to zero capacity in a very short time. If the battery drops to an unacceptable charge level then the battery needs to be replaced. Rechargeable batteries will fail if stored in a discharged state for long periods.

Hi I have a Toshiba laptop model no.psl2xu-ookoof and it doesn't charge anymore so what do I do

If the laptop works only off the Power Cord and the battery is not charging, then the battery is dead.

To check to make sure the Power Cord is working remove the battery and let the latop run for 10 minutes or so.

To check to see if the battery has any charge left in it put the battery in and remove the power cord. If it won't boot or shuts down then the battery is dead and needs to be replaced if the power cord is ok.

With a battery charged in a different laptop, this one will work. Included AC cord as well as other compatible (19V 3.42A) cords will NOT power the device OR charge attached battery. My deduction is that...

It is probably the protection fuse link that has failed. It is on the motherboard near the power input, or the onboard power supply has failed.
Consult an authorised Toshiba repair service.
