I have a linksys nr041 router that I want to hook to a toshiba laptop and a dell desktop computer and i can't figure out how to do it, I have tried. I need step by step instructions please.
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
New users get to try the service completely Free afterwhich it costs $6 per call and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

SOURCE: Netgear DG834G Setup
This link should walk you though it, step by step!
If you are using Vista, you will probley want this link, too. Click on Network icon.
In the past I have found the biggest issue with networking is firewalls, so I suggest you disable them just for testing and setting up your network.

its possible that the wireless card does not have the correct wireless settings.
Open the linksys wireless monitor on your wife's laptop.
Go to the profiles tab, highlight the default SSID then click on edit at the bottom. It will search for the wireless network, from the list of networks that it will show you, click the name of your wireless network, in if the network is secured you will be ask to put in your network key. Then click connect. Then it will say that you profile was successfully configured. then click connect to network. It will take you back back to the screen where you saw no association to the access point, check if you will now get a new message. On that same screen click the more info button at the upper left hand side. Check the IP address it should be 192.168.1.x. If you have that IP then you can test if you will be albe to get online.
if you still have any problem just reply to this post.

Connect the modem to the router, and the router to the computer.
Pull the power cord out of the Modem.
Pull the power cord out of the Router.
Wait 10 seconds.
Plug in the modem, and wait untill all the lights go steady (ususally a minute or two)
Plug in the router.
Check your connection. Ask for more help if this doesn't work.
