i have a notebook computer that was previously owned, and now i cant get past the login password. I just want to reset the whole computer.
I have the same problem Post a new problem

Same thing with mine, i have the password BUT i am unable to reformate OR remove the password itself, i can not get into the bios .. i even went as far as taking the thing apart to look for the CMOS jumper ( near the bios backup battery) BUT to my surprise there was no jumper or battery that i can see. SO, im am lost - i fear i may have just payed for a laptop that i cant not "clean up" to make it my own.. :-(( please help someone..

i get no hdd activity,my power adapter is good, i have 15.6 vdc. I see led showing direct connet to power outlet without battery installed in l/t. I took hdd out still no fan running, dvd no power, no led . Is there a power reset button on this model l/t?

If this is an XP computer, you should try to login as administrator first. It's very common for this password to be left blank. Just enter "administrator" as the user and press enter. Re-installing the OS can be very time consuming, so this may be worth trying first.

To reset" the computer. You'll need the disks that came with the computer. Either recovery disks or an OS install disks. This procedure varies from computer to computer, so I can't tell you much with out the make and model info.
