Question about HP Officejet 4315 All-in-One Printer

Can't scan I can copy but when I go to click scan it comes up and says "no scan options" please help me.

    I recently hooked up the printer to a new computer and now it will not scan. The printer and copier work but I press the scan button it says "No Scan Options" and tells me there is no computer connection although I checked all the connections and if there was no computer connection then it wouldn't print either, which it does.

Hello,

I would suggest that you disconnect the usb cable from the printer. Then, if the printer was previously installed and stopped working, uninstall all programs related to the printer through Add/Remove Programs or Programs & Features in the Control Panel.

After restarting the computer with the printer still disconnected you can follow the directions below to download the latest drivers.

To download the drivers you can go here. When the page opens you will need to choose your operating system. Then, from the Drivers section I would choose the full feature driver or the Plug n Play option for Vista.

Once you click that, you will see a Install Now button that will allow you to immediately install the software and/or a Download Only button that will allow you to download the file for later installation.

Either option will have a link below them that says View Directions which can be used to get step by step instructions for installation of the drivers.

If the above options doesnt correct the issue, you can try this.

Hello.

Scanning a document requires the MP Navigator EX software to be installed. If you don't have a copy, select: http://download.cnet.com/MP-Navigator-EX-for-Windows/3000-2094_4-10971618.html Choose Download Now and follow the process to install and run.

Scan pictures or documents using the MP Navigator EX software that was installed from the CD. Start the application, then click the "Scan/Import" button. Select "Photos/Documents (Platen)" to indicate you want to scan items on the scanner bed. Then use the "View & Use" screen to choose what you want to do with the scanned images. You can save them to your hard drive, email them, print them or, if the scanned document was a text image, use the Optical Character Recognition (OCR) feature to convert the scanned image to text.

Film scaning options are missed in Select Source


I had the same problem. My solution is: "Just go to settings on Canoscan Toolbox. Then go to copy button, drop down and select scan2. This comes "Copy" as default setting. Change it to scan2. Click ok. On Canoscan toolbox main interface click scan2 and bingo, you'll see film option on select source . Hope this works

I have mx310 copier/printer/fax/scanenr. i can copy and print but it will not scan. any suggestions?


I have a Canon Pixma MP470 and my scan control option is in the solution menu with the import option.
Try this: click start, click all programs, choose Canon utilities, choose solution menu, slide right and click on solution menu, your screen should show scan/import option, click on scan/import and chhose scan. I hope this is helpful, Good Luck.

I assume you have Vista and when the scan button is pressed on the product, nothing happens. The scan button does not work correctly. Workaround
Choose one of the following options to scan without using the scan button. Option one: Scan using Windows Fax and Scan
  1. Click the Windows icon (c01319360.gif), click Programs, and then click Windows Fax and Scan.
    NOTE: The Windows Fax and Scanoption is available in the Business, Ultimate, and Enterprise editionsof Windows Vista. If you have the Home Basic or Home Premium edition ofWindows Vista, skip to Option two: Scan using Paint.
  2. Click New scan.
  3. Click File, and then click Scan.
Option two: Scan using Paint
  1. Click the Windows icon (c01319360.gif), click Programs, and then click Accessories.
  2. Click Paint.
  3. Click File, and then click From Scanner or Camera.
  4. Click Scan.
Cause The drivers in the Windows Vista operating system do not support button press functionality on the product.

Error messages that wont leave the screen


You have a virus both of those files are spyware which is planted to record all of your keyboard strokes. Run a virus/spyware checker to kill or quarantine the viruses..

Prints beautifully from a scanned copy, but light when copying


Check your copy option,constrast to high and quility to Auto.
after that should be fine.

How to scan documents then email them


To scan and send the documents via. e-mail. First of all you must run the setup from the cannon cd (comes with printer), use full installation (recommended option) complete the installation.

If this is already done then :-
1] Put the document that you want to scan in the scanner,

2]Open "control panel" and open "scanners and cameras" folder. (switch to classic view if needed)

3]Switch on the printer (if it's on only then proceed to next step)

4]You will see your scanner icon (if necessary refresh the screen)

5]Open it and click "next"

6] (OPTIONAL) Select scan image type.

7]Click "next".

8]Choose a place to save your image.(default is my pictures)

9]Click "next"

10]and now image scan starts, at last click on finished.

11]Now open your e-mail account, choose "compose mail" fill in the details

12]now select "browse" (for gmail) or select upload file

13]select the address of the image where you saved it (default my pictures)

14]click ok.(you can only upload 1 file at a time)

15]send the mail. !!

16]Thus, you can send image by scanning like as stated above .

Scanning


This message will come up when you are scanning from the Stand alone printer not from the computer.

If the software is sucessfully installed in your computer,
Then you should have a icon which says HP Director / HP Solution Center (If not Goto> Start> All Programs> HP and then you will see them
Open HP Director/Solution Center and try scanning from there, It should scan from there.
If yes then go to settings> Scann Settings> Scan to setup> There you see an option which says Front panel Destination list> Click that and there you see a options says Restore Defaults> Click that> then Apply and Ok> And close all the indows and try scanning from the All-In-One.

If it does not work then try the steps bellow:

Go To:
My computer>C:windows>system32
Copy hpzipm12
minimize this window
Right click on Start button on the computer>Explore>Programs>Startup>edit>paste
minimize this window.
Go back to My computer>C:>windows>system32
Copy hpzinw12
minimize this window

Right click on Start button on the computer>Explore>Programs>Startup>edit>paste
Now you will see two new files in Startup
Now go to My Computer>C:Program Files>HP>Digital Imaging>bin>
Copy hpqtra08
close this window
Right click on Start button on the computer>Explore>Programs>Startup>edit>paste
Restart the computer
Open Hp Solution Center> Settings>Scan settings and preferences> Scan to button>
check destination list> if available applications are not in the destination list then add them in the front panel destination
Tried to scan.

Scanner not responsive. You can choose to have the document scanned to your PC but nothing happens and either location.


Hi, we need to check first if this issue is caused by the scanner it self or by the scanner driver. Please try the following to check if your scanner is physically functioning or not:

Basic Copying
1. Open the scanner lid.
2. Place your document face-down on the glass. Move your document about 0.1 inch from the top and side edge so your entire document is scanned.
3. Close the scanner lid.
4. Be sure the COPY button is lit. The default copy settings are displayed on the control panel.
5. Press the Color Copy button (for color copies) or B&W Copy button (for black and white copies). Your document is scanned and then printed.
Note: Depending on the copy settings chosen, your copied image size may not be the exact same size as your original.
If the image was successfully copied please uninstall the scanner driverm download the latest driver in http://support.epson.com and install it. Try scanning.

If the issue still present we will need to ensure the scanner is being recognized correctly. Have you had any other scanners installed on the computer previously? We would suggest checking the DEVICE MANAGER for any conflicts.

Get to the Device Manager by:
1. Right-Clicking on MY COMPUTER
2. Left-click on PROPERTIES.
3. Click on the HARDWARE tab, then DEVICE MANAGER.
In the Device Manager please for the following:
1. Any yellow or red X's, question marks or exclamation marks.
2. Under the Category of Imaging Devices - Check for Epson Product name.
If IMAGING DEVICES is listed, test the scanner from PAINT.

To scan in paint:
1. Click on START > ALL PROGRAMS > ACCESSORIES > PAINT.
2. Click on FROM SCANNER OR CAMERA.
3. Choose COLOR PHOTO.
4. Scan.

It is also possible your Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) service is not started.

To start this process please follow the steps listed bellow.
1. Click on Start, go to Control Panel.
2. In the Control Panel window you will Performance and Maintenance, please left click that option.
3. Next we are looking for Administrative Tools, please left click on that option.
4. We are looking for the Services icon please left on that icon.
5. In the Services window we are going to scroll down to the bottom and look for the Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) Service, Please Right click it with your right mouse button.
6. We want to select the STOP option with your left mouse button.
7. Next we want to Right click on the Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) service again and select the START option with your Left mouse button please.
