Battery cover replacement

The plastic battery cover is broken. I ordered and received a new cover. I cannot determine how to remove the broken cover and replace with new part. Are there any Internet sites with pictorial explanation? Or, can someone explain how to do it.

Re: Battery cover replacement

First, replacement battery covers may be obtained from dealers in the USA - I got mine from San Diego Camera Solution who list the item on eBay. Haven't found a UK outlet, but I guess Leung's at Goodmayes would offer a repair service if you don't fancy DIY.

(Disclaimer that I have no connection with either company).

Not sure what Canon recommend, but the easiet way (worked for me) does not involve stripping the camera down. If you dissemble the old and new battery covers via the three little cross-point screws (see warning), then it is possible to replace the new cover around the original hinge assembly.

The advantage of this method - aside from not opening the camera - is that there are "spares" the bits that will get dropped (spring and screws) so that there is less time wasted trying to find them while effecting the repair!

The trickiest part is the sprung loaded latch, which must be installed with the spring partly compressed. Beware when first taking the covers apart and especially when refitting, because the spring will do its utmost to escape.

Re: Battery cover replacement

Well you could ask Canon- as they have parts to purchase they should be able to give a replacement sheet. I have not seen one of these - but you may have to split the case- but check Canon first.

Camera door thats holds battery small grey latch is broken

Try they might be able to solve your problem. Also look at the latch and determine if it is attached to the front of the camera case or the back of the camers casing I am assuming it is attached to the back then you might consider caling HP back and ordering the Back or Front cover Assembly. Small pieces like this usually don't come by themselves you have to order an assembly, so when when u call for parts ask for Back cover assembly or front cover assembly, which ever it is attached to or apart of. Asking for a perticular piece they will not usually know what you need. You have to talk to them in technical terms.. Hope this helps you out...

Battery door.

Hi, waiting for the replacement part, I had a look at the broken one . I think you may be able to replace just the plastic part without removing the pin. I'll look closer when I get the part.

Battery door broken

You're making it harder than it has to be. Simply hold the camera in your left hand, and open the battery door so it is standing up. Look closely at the lower left corner of the batterry door. Notice the notch shape. The door plastic door is locked in place by the mating little "L" shape on the hinged door of your camera. Thats all that keeps it from sliding off when you put in batteries. Simply insert a small screwdriver or knife blade in that slot, twist it counterclockwise to push the battery door lock to the left, and slide the door off with no force at all. It's a snap.

Broken Part - Battery Door

It is not too easy to change the door, but can be done.
You have to "tear" away the rubber from the handle. There are a couple of screws under the rubber to remove. The righter part of the batteryholder is kinda loose at that point. You can use a little screwdriver to open enough gap from right side from the point A. Then you can slide the battery door loose and replace a new one.a298e8d.jpg

Replacement Battery Cover Assembly

If you're handy, you can replace it in about 3 minutes. Don't attempt it unless you're willing to risk tearing a thin flexible circuit under the rear cover. Looking at the camera from the rear, remove the screws on the right hand side ( 2 ? ) then the screws across the bottom - open the card door, remove the card, and wedge a knife blade between the front and rear cover halves - the card door will be loose with an attached spring coming free. No need to remove the rear housing completely, just enough to expose the tracks for the battery cover hinge. Remove the old door, noting the position of the opening spring at the hinge, by angling one hinge out first. Insert the new battery cover and the card door in reverse order.
