How do I fix a dryer with control panel that is not making anything happen, and the door opening and closing is what turns the machine on and off?

is cheaper to have a service tech come in and trouble shoot the root of your problem., since boards are really expensive and you could be replacing them all day long and they are not returnable just to later find out you had a bad display screen.

No power appears to be coming connection when door is closed; no lights come on on any of the cycle indicators...deader than a doornail@l

Hello. I need the make/model number to help you most accurately. From the symptom you describe, there might be a main fuse located on or near the main control board which has opened, killing power to the unit. Clues: totally dead--no lights--an open door will not affect indicator lights, the unit won't do anything though--safety(nothing will happen until the door is closed) Have you had a power outage recently? Usually 3-4 weeks after an outage, the damaged chips on the boards start to fail. This can be evidenced by blown control panels, blown main boards, etc. Make sure 120 volts *is* getting to the dishwasher--check the power connections below(be careful). If the breaker has tripped, reset it and see if the unit runs. Troubleshooting starts from the outside and proceeds inward, eliminating the obvious and moving to ever more complex problems until the culprit is found. Definitely supply me with that model number so I can see what I'm dealing with and guide you correctly. Thanks!

What is error code 41

Good Afternoon Donna,

I see that you are wondering what an error code 41 is on your Frigidaire washer, model# GLTF2940ES. Error code 41 means the control board thinks the door switch is open. You will want to make sure the door is closed. Reset your appliance by either unplugging it or shutting the power off at your home's circuit breaker. When you restore power select any cycle and start it. If you are still receiving an error code 41, I suggest contacting your local authorized technician. Hope this helps.

-Best Regards-

Washer won't start

How do you know the machine has power? Is there a light that tells you power is making it to the innards of the machine?
Manufacturers of washing machines are very concerned with safety. That's why they install multiple interlocks to disable machine operation if some part of the machine is not functioning properly.
The very first interlock is the door open switch. If the door is not closing properly, or the door open switch is malfunctioning, the machine will not start. Check that the door closes fully. There is also usually a switch "plunger" located near the top or bottom hinge. Make sure it is not sticking.
The second interlock is a breaker that trips if the "basket" of the washer is overloaded. When an overloaded basket tries to spin or agitate, it draws a large amount of power; too much to be safe. So, a breaker will trip and disconnect power to the motor. Not usually the rest of the washer, so you'll still see lights, but the motor won't start.
This breaker is not usually in a place you can reach it. The manufacturer made it this way so that you would be forced to take the machine in to be serviced by trained personnel. Again, washing machine companies are very concerned with safety.
However, sometimes the breaker will be located on the back of the machine, or just inside a removable panel held on with a few sheet metal screws. You will see that the center "button" of the breaker has extended out of the breaker body, or in the case of a lever-type breaker, the lever is not all the way in the "on" position. Either way, you can reset the breaker by pushing the button in or pushing the lever all the way down and then all the way back up again.
The third interlock is not necessarily mechanical. Many washing machines are electronic now, and a controller is responsible for machine operation. This electronic controller is programmed to shut the machine down in the event that it detects that something isn't right with the machine's workings. Sometimes this "not right" condition is nothing more than a stuck switch or dial. Check all switches and dials to make sure none of them are sticking.

This sounds like something has shorted causing the breaker to trip. You definitely need a qualified LG repairman to check it out.
