Re: Can't eject broken XD card.

The reason why it cannot be ejected by software b'coz the pin that is used to eject it was broken.but you can manually eject it by using a twiser or if not you may open the device carefully and pull out the broken card.

Xd picture card will not click into place on Olympus e-420. Results in prompt "card reader error."

Are you sure it is a xD card and not an SDXC?

Then there should be a little arrow, pointing in the direction it should be going while inserting.
Try to eject the card and reinsert the card.
If you never used a xD card, and nobody else ever tried to put something in the slot, the card should go in smooth.
After placing the card, don't forget to format the card in the camera.

Photos I want aren't on my xd card but on internal memory????

You'll need to install the software that came with the camera onto your computer then connect the camera with the USB cable that came with it to your computer. The software will start when it senses your camera is connected and you'll be able to access the camera internal memory. Otherwise, you can copy the internal memory contents to the memory card from the camera itself from the menu system.

I have about 24 pictures on my XD card and I was trying to .rar them in one file on my PC but it was not working and so I ejected the XD card from the PC reader slot. When I put the XD card back in my...

You should try some photo recovery software to rescue the files on your XD card, here are some for your options.

Photo Recovery (for Windows)
Photo Recovery for Mac

Be careful: Before your pictures are recovered, do not attempt to save more files to the card in case the original files(your pictures) are overwritten.

Photos stored in one photo file. How do I extract them?

Recovering xD data is always tricky as the specifications have never been publicly available, it's only during the last couple of years that reverse-engineering has produced software able to do so.

I've found that there are plenty of recovery tools which can recover the raw data but very few which can actually make sense of it. I'd suggest that you first see if there's a money back option on CardRecovery and then try a free trial of Acute Tools PhotoNose ( ). I haven't had the chance to try it for myself yet but I've heard from a couple of friends that it does work. F Recovery xD has also been recommended to me but again I have yet to try it for myself. ( )

What is certain at the present time is that there are no reliable free xD recovery tools, so whatever else you buy ensure that it either has a free trial or a money back option.

I hope that you have found my posting to be useful and ask in return only that you remember to rate my answer.

Is it possible to recover my formatted pictures on my XD card

Deleting or formatting won't make the data in xd card erased permanently.

Those deleted data is still stored on the xd card, it's just invisible or inaccessible. Only the FAT or NFTS table is erased (the information about where those data were saved), but the real data are still intact there in sectors of xd card .

So as long as those data are not overwritten by new data, it's highly possible to recover them. And the MOST Effective way is to rely on some format recovery programs.

Try asoftech data recovery program, which can recover data after deeply scanning your xd card drive to look for lost data you accidentally deleted or formatted.

Can a Camera's Factory-Delivered XD Memory Card Limit Be Upgraded from 1 GB to 2 GB.

there is unfortunately no (easy) way to upgrade something like'd probably have to actually tear it apart. but, maybe fujifilm might have released a firmware update to fix that problem *not that they would* but you could try plugging in the camera to your computer and try downloading firmware for it, they should have it on the website.

XD 1GB card

i think it's just 'cos of the sheer size of the memory it has to access. mine works quite quickly but when i put in a 512 it takes a lot longer i would not say there is anything wrong - just teh limitations of a device which was designed when even 128MB was a luxury ricardi, shropshire
