You need a new CMOS battery.
Specifically a CR1220.
Follow the manual here. (chapter 5-15)
You can find them cheap online, or hit a radio shack or batteries plus near you.

Hi there.
Your problem is the CMOS battery has run out and it needs replacing,
The CMOS battery is on your motherboard. It looks like a small watch battery. As for as dismantling it there are no directions on the Samsung website. Best thing to do is check You Tube on how to dismantle a laptop or by Scott Mueller's book on Amazon.com how to troubleshoot and repair laptops. There is not enough room on this website to go thru each step. Basically you turn it over and start taking out all the screws and panels until you get to the motherboard.
If you don't feel you are confident enough to dismantle it then take it to PC repair shop it should be fairly cheap.

Good luck and thanks for using FixYa!!

The BIOS battery has died. It is probably a coin type on the mother board. Unplug the PC, open the case and replace the battery. When it is back together, set the date and time in the BIOS and you should be good for a few more years.

Good luck and let me know how it goes!

its most likely the bios date and time are incorrect having the wrong time would not prevent you from booting to Windows unless there is another underlying problem , i will guide you through some tips 1 check the Bios time and date first and reboot

Compaq evo n610c has battery charge light (orange) flashing 8 times and will not power up

Try this link, refers to the n600c more than the 610, but that is the exact same battery so it is the right info:

How do you change the date on executone 64 phone? Our power went off & it reverted to Jan 1. I was able to change the time, no problem, but can't figure out how to change the date. Thanks!

Step 1: Press Menu key
Step 2: Press Park 3 key
Step 3: Enter password followed by # key ex. 543#
Step 4: Enter 9819
Step 5: Enter date with # in between. Ex. 01#26#2009#

Hopefully this will solve your problem.

Go to HP.com and select downloads. It will ask for your computer model and select the drivers you need. I have a 610 and 620 and an old M700 and probably download a driver every couple of months. No problem. If you can read this, you should be able to connect to HP
