No sound from 5 yr old Toshiba

Bought my Toshiba in Dec, '01. All was GREAT until 2 weeks ago... no sound. Dead. Stil had picture but no sound. Volume control numbers would raise and lower but no sound whatsoever. Checked 'mute' button ... no change. Checked if it was cable signal... cable worked on another tv.

Same exact scenario, except my TV is a JVC AV-27120. I also tried a different tv with the same cable box, and it worked fine. Is there a separate fuse for the audio section of the TV?

This is also a tough problem but certain solutions may help, try these steps:1. try using a dvd or any player that would connect to your t.v. and switch to VIDEO mode,if that does'nt help... 2.check the speaker,if good; try resoldering the sound i.c.,if nothing happens, try replacing the sound i.c. it may be defective.and the last one have the t.v.'s memory i.c. be reprogrammed by technicians who have the right tools of reprogramming t.v.'s memory...

As picture is ok means 100% it is due to sound section. solution 1 check speaker &its connection or loose 2 check supply to sound section 3 check parts in sound section (resistance& capacitors). 4 check for audio ic if it is demaged.

7 Blinks is the failure of the SC/SU/SD PCB's (1 2 or 3 depending on how lucky/unlucky) you are.

Panasonic have a great warranty usually. Give them a ring, it has failed.

The flashing LED is the fault code.

change out the LVDS cable (the cable that go from the control board to the main board) and it should resolve your problem. If your TV is still in warranty, call 1-877-MY-VIZIO and they will set up an in home repair for free.

this is caused by a bad convergence module, and there are probably some dried out electrolytic caps in the circuit as well. i have one in the shop right now that came in with the same problem. if you have it serviced, make sure they replace all of the convergence modules (there are usually 2, but sometimes 3 of them), because if one went bad the other(s) is likely to go out soon as well.
