Re: The thing just went dead

If you just bought this device i recommend taking it back and getting a replacement model. place your hand on it tho and if its on you should feel a very faint hummm.. if not its fuse or components are blown. and warranty is your only option! good luck.

Blinking standby light, dead dvd player

Hello illeanaceres,

I'm sorry to hear about the bad news, I had something similar happen to me around a month ago.

Honestly there is not much you can do if it is damaged due to a power surge. Resetting it would be the normal procedure.

Surge protectors only protect equipment up to a certain amount of joules. Basically if the lightning is powerful enough it can damage electronics with that initial surge. You should replace your surge protectors every few years if it is 2-3 years old then it may not be as effective.

Post back if you have anymore questions or comments. Thank you for choosing Fixya!

Dead power supply.

Faulty power-supply symptoms:

The front panel display and buttons are completely nonfunctional and appear dead. The unit will do nothing more than display the following messages on the TV screen:

Interface error
(and or)
Interface error! Turn off the power

If a DVD or VHS tape was inserted prior to the error occurring, you won't be able to eject either from that point further. They'll remain stuck inside the unit until you've completed the repair detailed below.

Interface error! Turn off the power <--- explains how to completely restore your combo in less than 20 minutes by replacing a $1.59 part on the power-supply board.

My dmr-es30v is dead

Check the circuit boards inside again. Look for swollen capacitors (small "cans" sitting on end). If the top is swollen up and not flat, that is probably the problem. You can get a substitute capacitor easily. Radio Shack even has some. Check the CD Freaks web site for a video solution.

Mintek 8.5 1815 seems dead.... ? was working last time used

Looks like the power board in the device is defective. Best suggestion (and cheaper option) would be to simply buy a new portable..

Picture problem

If you have the DVD Player connected to the vcr, it is the copy right protection software that is doing it, this is on every single DVD to defer con artist. A way to fix this, is to get a video image stabilizer, or find a way to work around the VCR. If this does not fix the problem, it is possible that the video output on the DVD Player is malfunctioning somehow

Magnavox MWD200F not working anymore!!!

since you have plugged out the DVD for 3hrs the conclusion is that you will need to take it to a repairman the problem with your DVD is that it got a surge due to the power failure.that sound you are getting is from the little transformer in the power supply, the current stops at the primary windings and is not crossing over the the secondary winding to complete the cycle.good luck i was the one who told you to plug it out for 3hrs
