Apr 24, 2009

-   The other day i was running and i fell in some mud, I quicky retrieved my ipod, hoping that it was okay, i clicked the center button, and all was well. Once i got my self cleaned up a little, i took off my case, and started to wipe it down... then it wouldnt turn on. It wasnt until later that i realized that it worked, it was just very dim. (unless held up to the light at a certain angle.) I have rested my settings, and turned it off... still no change. Any suggestions??

(FYI: I had bought the iPod used on craigslist, so suggesting to take it into apple with a warranty wont work.)-   ac3g

Well as you probably figure, you're back light has probably crapped out. However I would reset it by holding both the menu and center buttons at the same time until you see an apple appear on the screen. If the back light does not come on then, try the settings one more time. If there is still no backlight at this point; I would go ahead and connect it to your computer and restore it using itunes. Sadly if you still cannot resolve your issue at this point you will probably want to call apple tech support about it at 1-800-APL-CARE (1-800-275-2273) If your still under warranty they should cover all expenses on the repair or replacement. (Just don't admit to any kind of accidental damage)

You need to look inside your headphone jack at a little rectangular or semi moon strip.  If the strip is white, then you can go to Apple and claim ignorance for the screen issue.  If the strip is pink, then Apple will deny you under the no warranty for water damage clause.
