Question about Daewoo Microwave Ovens

2 Answers

I have a Daewoo OTR Microwave Model number K0T-210UB. I have had this for approx. 4 years and the light works, fan, clock however whenever I press Start there is a whirring noise and it then trips the circuit breaker and shuts off. Just saw your site and thought I would try it. If its a microwave fuse issue that is something I could probably replace. I just bought a new oven and will return if its as simple as that. Just need your help / recommendation. Thank you.

If it was the fuse then the oven will not even start. If you hear a whirring noise it can be the vent, try replacing vent motor capacitor.
Remember that microwaves are potentially dangerous devices if not repaired properly, the job must be done by a competent person.
Here is a service manual for a similar daewoo, check page 14 how to replace vent motor capacitor.
If the vent does the same with new capacitor, then the vent motor is gone.

You can also try to understand if noise is coming from turntable motor, naturally do not try to run the oven with door open, magnetron radiation is highly dangerous.
A microwave energy leakage test must always be performed when the oven is serviced for any reason.

If is not the vent instead, and the vent is doing fine, but the oven turned down in few seconds, then it can be the high voltage capacitor, the rectifier diode.or the magnetron.

Replace the magnetron if the checks and all of the high voltage component tests are good, but the unit still does not heat.

All locations, and description of this parts are on the manual above.

Parts must be tested to find out what is wrong.

If you need to contact support you can use Service Center Locations in US. or contact Daewoo by phone 877-DWE-SVC3 (877-393-7823) or 973-249-3448 . They also provides parts.
In UK see Daewoo Electronics UK Home

Outside US call Daewoo customer suppor, locate the number on website.

Please don't forget to leave us feedback afterward, that is important for us.

Many thanks.

This problem is caused by the microwave emitter, it is dangerous to operate it like this, I would recommend u replace it, as most likely the repair cost will exceed the price of a new replacement, they are very cheap.

New Whirlpool MH1160XSQ0 OTR Microwave, never used. (been in storage for 4 years). Lights, fan touchpad seems to be working normally. Gives 3 beeps when start button is pressed and then nothing happen

They have no battery that I'am aware of, the problem is in the keypad control board. The long storage tends to cause issues if the parts have not been energized for a long time, capacitors start to deform overtime and they are the most likely to fail.

Can I replace a 1.3 cu ft otr microwave with a 1.5

Brackets can remain the same throughout a particular brand for several years but will also change every year at times. Same year and same brand, I would say yes. Different year of manufacture or different brand name I would say, no it will not fit the existing brackets. If you have a particular brand in mind and have the model number of the existing OTR, it is usually possible to search out installation instructions for both at the manufacturer's website. You could then compare to see if they will match up. The two screws through the upper cabinet floor into thr top of the OTR can vary, within a particular brand even in the same year of manufacturer.

Ewave OTR Microwave Oven, Model KOT-153UW. Light

We see (and repair) this a lot. The problem is on the control panel, which we regularly repair nationwide by mail for $39.95 postpaid in about a week or so.

At our Web site, you can get details of our service, plus we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

This light failure often occurs when a bulb goes out and the filament shorts, or when the bulbs are removed or installed without first unplugging the oven from the power line. Either can cause such a failure on the controller.

The lights can can be inoperable or stuck on or no bright, too. Sometimes this will similarly affect the exhaust fan operation or inside light, too.Feel free to contact me directly (and please remind me of your full model number from the tag on the unit) for more information & help.

We're happy to help you with free advice and we'd appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.

OTR Amana microwave- No power, lights, clock or sounds.

Either your magnetron, cooling fan, or the magnetron thermostat is failing.

Since it's less than one year old, it would be fully covered under warranty. I'd suggest contacting the manufacturer to get it fixed free.

Amana / Whirlpool customer service is here.

Please contact them to find your nearest authorized service center.

Whirlpool OTR microwave no oven 'fan'

FIRST ,,MICROWAVE OVENS ARE REALLY SAFTY MINDED AND THATS A GOOD THING....THERE ARE USUALLY THREE DOOR SWITHCES NEXT THE KEYBOARD--THE ONE ON TOP AND THE ONE ON BOTTOM ARE PRIMARY AND SECONDARY SWITCHES,,YOUR PROBLEM SOUNDS LIKE ONE OF THESE IS NOT MAKING CONNECTION..YOU MIGHT BE ABLE TO PRESS 'DOWN" WITH A LITTLE PRESSURE ON THE DOOR AFTER CLOSING TO SEE IF THE FAN WILL START,,,IF YOU NOTICE --THERE ARE 2 LATCHES(HOOKS) COMING OUT OF THE DOOR,,WHEN THE DOOR IS CLOSED,THOSE LATCHES ARE SPRING LOADED AND MAKE CONTACT ON THOSE SAFTY SWITCHES....THIS IS NOT A CUSTOMER REPAIR--MICRO'S ARE JUST TO DANGEROUS WHEN YOU TAKE THE COVER OFF--IF THIS DOES BRING THE FAN BACK ON--YOU GOT A BAD DOOR SWITCH AND SHOULD BE A REASONABLE REPAIR
THE OTHER SOLUTION STILL WOULD BE A CONNECTION PROBLEM ON THE KEYBOARD ITSELF-THE WIRES JUST PLUG ON THE CIRCUIT BOARD BEHIND THE KEYBOARD---STILL A EASY REPAIR--GOOD LUCK TUNICA

Daewoo MT1510B problem

Chances are your magnetron is overheating, activating the magnetron thermostat, which resets and restores power when it cools.

Your manual may call for you to put a paper plate under the popcorn bag to heat better and to protect the turntable. (And always place the food slightly off-center on the turntable, for the same reasons!)

You should first confirm that the outlet reads about 110-120 volts AC and that the microwave is on its own breaker. If a microwave shares a breaker with another high current device (or even lights) it can affect operation.

Then be sure the microwave's internal cooling fan is running.

If this is an over the range model, it will also have a exhaust hood vent fan which you can turn on and off at will, but this is not the fan I'm talking about.

The internal cooling fan should be on whenever the oven is cooking. If not, the magnetron can overheat and eventually be destroyed.

The next issue is how long you've had the oven.

If it's within the 30-day dealer exchange period, I'd take it back for a new one pronto.

If it's within the full warrranty period (usually 1 year) Daewoo's service center should fix it free.

You can visit Daewoo online or call them at 1-800-323-9668 or 1-800-553-4355 to find parts or find your nearest authorized service center to have them do the work.

We're happy to help you with free advice and we'd appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.
