Oven light bulb burned out-replaced-now won't turn off. GE JBP82 electric range

The activation source switching mechanism may have frozen in the ON position. If you cannot turn it off when pressing the on/off button; the it is stuck ON. Since the ON/OFF is part of the Circuit Board, it cannot be repaired by itself. What you can do is just leave the bulb in the socket and unscrew it (leaving it partway in the socket) until it goes out.

I replace the light bulb but it does not work although the dryer works fine. Is there a special bulb?

with the power unplugged, check the tab inside the bulb socket to be sure its not burned or damaged, also,, at times a new bulb is no good, If you have a multimeter,, put the selector to continuity ,, and place the black lead to the bulb base, and the red lead to the center point at the bottom of the bulb, if you get no reading, the bulb is no good, ( if you don't have a meter, screw it into another lamp, as long as your sure the dryer light socket is a 120v not a 220 volt

Have an installed GE Microwave jvm1870 with a burned out oven bulb. Have replacement bulb but can not see how to get to the old bulb to replace it.

From the owner's manual:

Cooktop Light/Night Light

On models JVM1850, JNM1851, DVM1850 and EMO4000, replace the burned-out bulb with a 120 volt, 40-watt incandescent bulb (WB36X10003), available from your GE supplier.

On models JVM1870, JVM1871, JVM2050 and JVM3670, replace the burned-out bulb with a 120 volt,
20-watt halogen bulb (WB36X10213), available from your GE supplier.

To replace the bulb(s), first disconnect the power at the main fuse or circuit breaker panel or pull the plug.

Remove the screw at the left edge of the light cover and push on the right edge of the cover to open.

Be sure the bulb(s) to be replaced are cool before removing.

After breaking the adhesive seal, remove the bulb by either gently turning (for models JVM1850, JNM1851, DVM1850 and EMO4000) or pulling straight out (for models JVM1870, JVM1871, JVM2050 and JVM3670).

Replace with the same size and type bulb.

Raise the light shield and replace the screw.

Connect electrical power to the oven.

Oven Light

GE supplier.

To replace the oven light, first disconnect the power at the main fuse or circuit breaker panel or pull the plug.

Remove the top grille by taking out the screws on top of the grille that hold it in place and sliding the grille to the left (opening the door makes grille removal easier).

Next, remove the light cover.

On some models, the light cover is located in the center of the top opening.

Remove the screw that secures the light cover and lift the cover off.

On some models, the light cover is located at the left of the top opening.

Lift the cover off.

Pinch the clips that hold the light socket in place and lift the socket out.

Remove the bulb from the light socket by pulling straight out.

Replace with the same size and type bulb, then replace the light socket and cover.

Replace the grille and screws.

Connect electrical power to the oven.

GE Profile Convention Light Bulb Not Working after Replacement

With a volt meter you must verify power to the door light switch and the light socket.
You can also unplug the oven and do this with a meter set for continuity.

Need new light bulb socket for GE spacemaker mircrowave

The bulbs are glued in at the factory. Unplug the microwave and see if you can remove the base of the bulb from the socket with needle nose pliers. You may have to twist the heck out of the bulb base but it should come out. If you do need a new socket it is available at www.geappliances.com under parts and accessories. Or call 1-800-626-2002 for GE factory parts

New bulbs in chandelier don't work

A light bulb is not a terribly complicated thing. I think you're saying that the bulbs are OK, but they do not seem to function in some of the chandelier sockets. Is that correct?

Assuming the bulbs are not burned out, the only reason this would occur is if they are not making good electrical contact with the socket. The bulb makes contact in two places, on is the threaded base and the other is the metal contact on the base of the bulb. My guess would be they are not threading in quite right and then you're not able to screw them all the way in so the base makes electrical contact.

Before you rate this solution I hope you'll take into account that I'm not paid to do this, I'm just trying to help. I have no idea what you're reaction will be, but I'm really getting tired of getting poor ratings for trying to help...especially when I seem to be the only one who responds on a question.

Surface lights

I also have had a problem with the glass part of the surface light bulb separating from the metal base when trying to change the bulbs under my G.E. Spacemaker Microwave.. I see someone used a carrot or potato but I had not seen this suggestion before I whittled one end of a wine cork small enough to insert into the metal part of the old bulb stuck in the socket. It also worked great and in no time I was able to get the old base out and replace the bulb. I'll save the cork for next time because it seems to happen to at least one of the bulbs everytime they need to be changed. DON'T FORGET TO UNPLUG THE MICROWAVE FIRST!
