Re: battery life

After spending many hours with on the phone with scandisk, intalling a new battery, reformating the unit ect. I found that the only solution is to take it to the retailer, obtain a refund and buy an Ipod Nano for about the same price

My mp3 player wont charge up,soon as i turn it on it says turning off battery low,my daughter only used it three or four times.bought it on 6/16/10

You have not mentioned the brand or model #.
Just remember the life span of a typical rechargeable battery is only 3 years from the date of manufacture. And the life of the battery also depends on how one charges it. Its important that you allow the battery to soak in charge uninterrupted for the stipulated time ( as given by the gadget manual ). Typically would be 3 to 5 hours and children some how do not have the patients or the discipline to do so. Frequent and short charging sessions ruin the battery.
In fact the first charge is the most important-- it should be a long one. But in the excitement to try out the device very often I have seen people charge it for 5 minutes and then turn on the device to see how it works or sounds !!!
This is the reason when you buy a cordless phone there is a sticker on the handset telling you to initially charge the phone for 6 to 7 hours prior to use. Some even tell you to leave it overnight on the charger.
Any way your problem might be solved with a new battery and follow the instructions thereafter.
Good luck.

Batterylife,GoGear Vibe 4GB how long between each charge, getting 5 to 6 hours.

The battery life is rated at 25 hours for audio and 4 hours for video. If the charge is not holding you can try ensuring device is secured while charging. If this does not work the battery is bad and should be replaced. This is not horrible news, batteries for the GoGear Vibe 4GB are only $10.00.

Battery doesn't hold a charge - 1 hr play from the start - even thought I have charged up to 5 hours

How old is it ?? Try and charge it over night-- It should operate longer than 1 hr. Maybe bring it back for exchange.. ?

RCA TH1101 MP3 Player short battery life

Are you using the cheap AAA batteries? If you are, that's your problem. Try getting some more expensive batteries or even better get some rechargeable. That's what I did with my RCA Pearl. Bought the batteries yesterday and it's still working on the same battery almost 24 hours later. hope this helps. Good luck my friend.

Insignia Pilot 80G MP3 player battery life

Hey General Chao,

Unfortunately, battery life can largely depend on how any given device is used - the louder the speakers or the brighter the LCD screen, the shorter a battery will maintain its charge. The 25-hour battery life quoted by the manufacturer may simply be an estimate based on the lowest possible settings for player volume, backlight and display settings. This means that the average user will probably encounter a significantly shorter battery life, especially when using maximum volume settings to compensate for ambient noise or other interference.

If you're still concerned, remember that you can always contact the manufacturer for further assistance at their toll-free hotline: 877-467-4289. Should your MP3 player be suffering from an actual hardware failure, Insignia may be able to provide you with additional trouble-shooting support or repairs if necessary.

Hope this helps you out.

Short battery life

Get a replacement from Philips if it seems abnormal and you are still under warranty. 8-9 hours is normal battery life for this unit - the product specs are "ideal" - not relaistic. No way to dim this unit.

Battery life cut down to 7 hours

The thing is, you recharge it too much. Because when you recharge it even though it still has battery power left, it tries to recharge it as much as if the battery was depleted. So, your battery overheats, therefore allowing you 7 hours instead of 20. And yes, it is possible to switch the battery.
