Question about Sharp R-1480 Microwave Oven
I have a Daewoo OTR Microwave (Model KOT-210UB) on its own circuit breaker. Clock works , fan etc. but when I press Start after approx. 10 seconds it trips the circuit breaker. This is my second OTR Microwave so I know its not a problem with the circuit breaker. Could a fuse in the microwave itself cause this problem and do I need to take the entire unit out to replace a fuse. I also just bought a new unit but if its as easy as changing a fuse I will do that, return the new one and save myself 400. Just came across this site and think its great .. would have checked it sooner here before buying a new one .

The most common suspect here is a shorted high voltage capacitor, since you say it blew the fuse right after Start, but I would certainly suggest checking the door switches and door switch mounts first. Just be sure you installed the right fuse. It would be a The switch mounts seem to break at about this point in the life of these models. sounds Like an electrical fault in the Micro, Sorry but this is broken.... If this is within warranty (do check as some warrantys are for 3 yrs or more) get the manufacturer to replace/repair it for free. you could get it serviced, but it is probably cheaper to buy a new one.

This light failure often occurs when a bulb goes out and the filament shorts, or when the bulbs are removed or installed without first unplugging the oven from the power line. Either can cause such a failure on the controller.
The lights can can be inoperable or stuck on or no bright, too. Sometimes this will similarly affect the exhaust fan operation or inside light, too.Feel free to contact me directly (and please remind me of your full model number from the tag on the unit) for more information & help.

Model number is on the side of the control or along he bottom of the frame. The control panel should be removable with a screw or 2 and sliding up to unlatch. the fuse is behind there. To remove it off the wall there is 2 screws coming down from the cabinet above and the unit tips towards you and lifts up off a lip on the back plate. Eric
