Connecting a Bi-Quad antenna

Here is my problem. I live in a area that does not have DSL and can only get the ever so slow dial up. I have read several forums on how to build a Bi-Quad antenna to recieve wi-fi, so I am building one. I am almost finished with the antenna and I am now trying to research how to connect to a network. There is DSL access areas about a mile up the road from me and i live in a valley, so I am down below everyone else. I have a person that lives about 1 1/2 miles from me that has wireless and is going to let me try and access his DSL service if I can figure out excactly how to do this. I have read that the bi-quad antenna will reach up to 8 miles and I don't need to go that far. Please help with this as dial up is killing me.

SOURCE: compatibility between linksys WRT54G Router and Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Driver

from what you say, it sounds as if you have your wired and wireless card connected at the same time. This will confuse the router as it is trying to give two different ip addresses to the one pc, which it cannot do. If you are using the wireless adapter, make sure you dissable the wired adapter as the router will continually look for the wired ip address while allocating your wireless adapter causing instability. Next ensure you have a good clear signal from router to notebook as this can obviously cause problems. Lastly ensure that the wireless cards TCP/IP properties are set to obtain ip address automatically, especially if your router is DHCP enabled to allocate ip addresses automatically.

SOURCE: wireless network broken, access to WRT54G & Motorola 2210-02 via http.. denied

I have att yahoo dsl which I installed about a year ago. The process required bridging the ADSL Modem (in my case a speedstream 4100) and accepting dynamic IP addresses and configuring PPPoE on the WAN side of my Linksys router. The ATT support person walked me through the entire process over the phone even though I was comfortable with making the Linksys configuration changes as I had to do the same in China without technical support. The modem configuration was no more difficult than the router configuration as it was performed from a web browser too. The biggest warning was that to reverse the modem change (if desired) required use of a reset button because the web interface was disabled as a result of the configuration change. My advice to you especially if you are willing to attach the Linksys router to the telco modem is to contact the ATT highspeed DSL support line and see if they will walk you through it like they walked me through it. Reviewing your Linksys User's Guide and understanding the configuration of that device would probably be appreciated by the ATT Support person as well as assuring you can access the Linksys router to configure it during the call.

SOURCE: 360 mtu test keeps failing

Access the routers setup page by typing 192.168.1.1 (ip address of the router) on the address bar on IE.

then on basic setup page at the bottom part of the page you will see MTU normally its on auto,
to change the value set it to manual. ask your isp what is their prefferred value for the mtu you can go as high as 1300 to 1500.

SOURCE: Cannot connect xbox 360 to wireless router

If you use DSL I would also check to make sure you are not being port blocked by your ISP. Some will block you if you exceed bandwidth on a particular port rather than throttling you or shutting you down entirely.

I live in a city that has three area codes but they all are local calls. You don't have to place a 1 to call the other codes. My moto g makes all these numbers as long distance by putting a 1 in front when...

The 1 signifies it is the US. Whether you dial a 10 digit number or 11 by adding the one yourself the call is made with the 1. It's hidden if it doesn't show. Because cell phones are mobile they require all 10 digits unless you are using assisted dial which will recognize your location and enter the area code and then allow you to just dial the prefix and last 4 digits.

You want the call to go through no matter where you or the person you are calling is located.

Hi, The easiest way would would be to install a DSL line in the APT and connect direct. Have you got the correct WEP key to the wireless networks? Do you ever have a warning that you are connected with limited connectivity or acquiring address takes ages? If so, you may be attempting to connect to a network with the wrong key. In addition, it may even show you are connected, yet you cannot access pages. Have you ever succeeded in connecting properly?
Please provide answers and I will try to help some more. Regards, Icom1

Dial up access

You need to contact an Internet Service Provider in your area who provides a dial up service. You will also need a dial up 56k modem.
The ISP can supply the setup information and maybe able to supply the modem if your computer does not have a built-in modem.
