Question about Washing Machines

Water inlet always open

The cold water inlet is always open, the hot is not. Should it be? By reading other problems seems like I need to get a new inlet? Thanks all!

If you mean "always" as in, it fills with water when the machine is shut off, then yes, you definitely need a new valve.

IE error on wd1484adp

LG's 'IE' stands for '(water) Inlet Error'.

If you have checked that the hot and cold water taps are turned on fully and the hoses are not kinked or squashed at the back, it is worth while checking both the hot and cold water inlet filters. Turn the taps off and remove both hoses at the washer end. Inside each inlet port there is normally a little filter which should just slide out. Clean if necessary and replace each one and the hoses. If after turning the taps back on there is no improvement, the problem is symptomatic of a malfunctioning hot or cold water control valve. Sorry but it needs a service call and a check that it isn't the control PCB

Can i run new hot water return line back to hot water system

Open following link to view how recirculation system looks:
http://waterheatertimer.org/Water-heater-recirculation-system.html

Ordinarily the cold water line is used to complete recirculation loop.
There is no reason why you cannot run separate line back to water heater instead of using cold water line.
The Grundfos system comes with crossover piece that connects hot-and-cold lines at furthest faucet.
Instead of connecting between hot-and-cold line, simply connect hot to your new hot water return line.

When your new line arrives back at water heater, it must connect to cold water inlet so return water is directed to bottom of water heater.
For critical safety concerns, do not remove TP valve to install new water inlet.
Nor is it best to use extra plug on top of tank to install new water inlet, unless you also install dip tube that directs water to bottom of tank.

In the case of tankless water heater, return line must be connected to cold water inlet also.

I have a samsung sw52asp top loader ..it fills but wont switch off water and go into wash cycle it just overflows...help

  1. It sounds like your Water Inlet Control Valve may be getting stuck, or is stuck. There are 2 water inlet control valves, 1 for hot water and 1 for cold water. Does this problem happen when using the hot water only, or cold water only? You will need to replace the water inlet control valve for the side that is stuck open.
  2. If this problem happens with hot water and cold water, you may have a faulty control board, which will need to be replaced.

Hotpoint WDD960 Washing Machine - Hot and Cold water inlets. I set my machine up originally with the Y piece, but thought using the hot inlet would be more economical so I have fitted separate hoses. ...

Do you have the hoses on right. Coming from the water supply which you should have two cut offs, looking at them the left one would be the hot line and right cold. Make sure they are hooked up this way on washer and see if you get hot water. If they are hooked up right then either your hot side of the water inlet valve isn't opening or the control board isn't telling it to open.

Kenmore h3 Elite Hot/Cold Water problems

I wouldn't imagine it being a computer problem, computers don't make mistakes like that. I would start with the inlet valve http://www.partselect.com/xq/aspx/Inventory.391478/qx/PartDetail.htm?SourceCode=7&ModelNum=110.44832202 and maybe the inlet valve wiring harness http://www.partselect.com/xq/aspx/Inventory.391563/qx/PartDetail.htm?SourceCode=7&ModelNum=110.44832202 for good measure. Both parts together will run you less than $100 and shouldn't be that difficult to replace. I'm am no Washing Machine expert, I just go by my common sense and Google. The computer http://www.partselect.com/xq/aspx/Inventory.971890/qx/PartDetail.htm?SourceCode=7&ModelNum=110.44832202 is $250+ and like I said I don't think the computer would cause the valve to open slowly and stay open, sounds like the vavle is sticking. Good Luck!

No cold water, only hot water in tub

Check first the filters on the cold inlet water line (both sides). Then, if problem is still exist - check that the inlet water valve works(it is an electromagnet valve, located at the pipe's entrance to the machine)). If it doesn't work, test that it get power. In case it get power and doesn't work - You can easily open the valve and clean it (from scale or other dirt). Be aware you should disconnect the power cable from machine before doing it !!!! Check as well for valve's coil resistance. In case you have no resistance measurement - you should replace it for a new one. Good luck
