Question about Sony PlayStation Portable (PSP) Console

1 Answer

PSP won't come on.

Last summer while in Europe I used my cousins PSP adopter to recharge my PSP. It did not work. After coming back I tried to charge the battery and nothing would happen. I thought that I ruined the battery when I used the adopter in Irland.
I bought a new battrey and nothing works now. When I plug in the adopter no light nothing. I tried an other adopter same thing.
Any Idea what is wrong with this. thank you.

Yes. the problem here is that adaptors dont convert voltage. so when you put the psp on charge in ireland it must have fried the circuits so that they wouldn't work. this means that the psp is ruined
sorry to be the one to tell you

My dell laptop doesnot work proberly if we power on a dell laptop. adopter let should be off then remove from the lap power will be on. whats the problem

If thelaptop battery is more than 3 - 4 years old then the battery could be worn out.Rechargeable batteries have a finite number of charge and discharge cycles andwill lose their charge capacity over time, i.e. won't charge to 100% andgradually the charge reduces until the battery won't charge up at all. OR Thebattery shows a 100% charge but when the adapter is disconnected the batterydrops off to zero capacity in a very short time. If the battery drops to anunacceptable charge level then the battery needs to be replaced.

Hi,
You did a good job in isolating the problem. It does seem that your Power charger port is the culprit. I had the same problem with my unit. What I initially did was I applied slight pressure using my finger pushing the adapter plug in the direction of the start button. Apparently, there was a slight gap between connector inside the PSP charger port and the outside part of the adapter plug. Eventually, I added a small layer of solder to one side of the upper part of the charger plug ( near the top part which is colored yellow ). Dont put too much solder, doing so will cause the adapter plug to not fit inside the port. That fixed the problem for me. !!!As a reminder, please do this if you are experienced in using soldering tools !!!!
If your unit is still under warranty, I suggest you let the Sony Technicians fix it for you.
I hope everything works out. All the best to you.

PSP DON'T RECHARGE

Please try to check your charger first. First, try to charge using a different charger. If your PSP still doesn't charge using the other charger, then you need to check your battery. Try to use another battery. If the other battery works, then the problem is with your battery. You just need to replace your battery and buy a new one.

Bought a new battery. played until it needed recharging, recharged but wont power up psp unless it is plugged in. once powered up it shows battery is full but if you disconnect psp shuts off?

this will only happen if the supposed battery is of inferior quality or is a fake battery. normally it might take time to charge and also it might be making a partial contact with the terminals of the system that comes in contact with the battery.(this can be found inside the battery compartment for the console). here are the steps you should take.
1.remove the battery and try to see if there are any particles like dust of rust on the golden panels of the battery surface.
2.check for the above particles too on the terminals of the system that comes in contact with the battery.
3.if there are such particles, you should try removing or cleaning it as this could prevent it from making full utility of the battery.
4.if the above doesn't work for you, you can try to obtain an original battery from a friend's psp and see how well it would work on your game. if the same thing occurs, the problem should be coming from your psp.
5.you can also try using another psp to charge this battery and see if it works well.
also, remember that if you bought the battery as a fairly used one, the lifespan of the battery could have been exceeded and as a result, can no longer store sufficient power.
hope this was helpful to you? please rate

When i turn on my psp it does not work and if you try to turn it off it does not work...I tryed taking out the memory stick snd the umd and it still does not work...i also tryed to hold the R button while...

have you tried the battery if you have then the best solution here is to get it checked out because there isnt a lot we can do without looking at the thing personally which won't happen. Also make sure it is cleaned out from dust because that is sometimes a main cause of console faults. Hope i helped!

Will not take a charge.

If it's a really old model, the battery may be completely used up. Rechargable batteries don't last forever. If you've ever had a cell phone for a few years, you'd notice that a full charge lasts less and less as time goes on. Anyway, try cleaning the little gold, metal surfaces where the battery and the psp meet. If someone else you know has a psp, try their battery. If it is just your battery, I'm sure you can find a replacement on eBay for pretty cheap.
