    Hi there. There is

  • jontyq Apr 21, 2009

Hi there. I have no sound at all. I only have an onboard speaker.

  • jontyq Apr 21, 2009

    AND

  • jontyq Apr 21, 2009

And I'm using 'realtek'? and preinstalled vista. Many thanks

  • jontyq Apr 21, 2009

No. Let me do the installation. Many thanks, had almost lost all my hair.

  • jontyq Apr 22, 2009

    Hi Jery, Being in the UK, I'm only now back to tearing my hair out; I uninstalled the existing Realtek and installed from your link as best I thought how. This has had a number of effects;

In the system/programs I can see two new Realtek folders. One I assume is the down load and the other the install. One path is Audio_Realtek_6.0.1.5397_Vistax86/ and the other is Realtek/InstallShield/.

In the Audio device section, (checked after louislevel_2 pointed this out), there is now only one 'device', A ticked speaker and below it says Realtek High Definition Audio Working. Previously there were two devices in here.

The speaker in the PC still does not work, but I did find out that if I plug in head phones I get sound from there. Also when I plug in the headphones a pop-up appears saying my Audio driver is not designed for Windows Vista, go to Realtek and download.

Have I not correctly installed the device, I wonder?

    Frustrated, London.

    Many thanks.

  • jontyq Apr 22, 2009

    Hi Jerry,

I found that and chose "Run". Estimated time left looks to be 9 and a half hours.

  • jontyq Apr 22, 2009

Wait a sec. I need to do this as described.

  • jontyq Apr 22, 2009

Nope...says it's going to take 9 and half hours to download however I try.

    Is that correct?

  • jontyq Apr 22, 2009

Ok, I've wheeled out a case. Only 9 hrs 10 to go.

    Many thanks

  • jontyq Apr 23, 2009

Hi Jerry, that has now worked.

    Brilliant.

    Many thanks

I'm going to have you reinstall the driver for the Realtek Audio. You can find the driver here:

    http://us.acer.com/acer/service.do?Langu...

That is the latest driver available. Have you done that already?

  • Jerry May 11, 2010

    Vanessa,

Do you have sound out of the onboard speakers? Or is the problem no sound AT ALL?

Okay there in London,

I'm sorry for your frustration. We are going to try one more thing. Despite your frustration, we are getting somewhere. Your latest error tells me a lot. I went in search of the realtek drivers from their site and here's what you need to download next:

http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=14&PFid=24&Level=4&Conn=3&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false#1

At their website, download the driver that says:

Vista Driver(32/64 bits) Driver only (Executable file) R2.22 2009/4/20 34633k

Don't download the zip, jsut the Executable version. There is no need to uninstall the previous driver. This is the High Definition driver and is probably what you are missing. Install it and let's go frm there.

Cheers,

Jerry

It does seem unusually slow, but this is the driver you need directly from Realtek, so yes, be patient, do your work, have some coffee or wine, whichever the case and relax! ;-)

  • Jerry Apr 23, 2009

Yeah, I'm extremely happy for you! I hope you didn't drink too much coffee/wine waiting for that download! I was glad to be of help!

    Jerry :-)

You should look in the Default Devices section of the settings. But it could just be bad contacts in the jack plugs of the sound card.

Not enough jack

You need to buy an external sound card, without which you will not be able to get much from your speakers. It will not produce surround sound.

The sound card will give you required jacks and will produce real good sound. You may try audigy cards from creative.

Soundcard acer aspire 5630

Laptop speakers are usually **** so you could spend a lot of time and money on something that won't make a difference. Try plugging in external speakers to the headphone jack. If the sound is good don't bother looking for a fix.

Acer speakers

hello, check the volume. also the jacks are color coded. green is speakers, pink is mic, blue is line in. if this does not help, consider adding sound card(this will give a better quality of sound than onboard sound) hope this helps! good luck, glen.

No Sound

Hello
Please go to your control panel and double click on "sounds and audio devices" then click on "Advanced" in volume tab.
Check if the volume is muted and uncheck it, also check if the volume level is low.

Also please ensure your if your speakers need to be pluged into electricity mains or if they need batteries.

If this solved your problem please rate this solution as "Solved" or ask here again in order to find another possible cause.

Thank you
