Question about Garmin Nuvi 660 GPS Receiver

Garmin c330 freezing

I have had the navigator for 2 years. It had fallen off the windfield many times in this duration. After the last fall, it keeps freezing. I can power it on, and it will work until it locates the satellite and starts to show directions. Once it is in that mode, within 1 minute, it will freeze, and I have to reboot it. I powered it through the USB with my laptop, and it did not freeze for more than an hour, but it wasn't connected to the satellite during this. It seems like once it connects to the satellite, it freezes within a minute. I would be greatly appreciative of any help I can get to fix this problem. Thanks.

I am happy to say my problem seems to have been solved. I found 3 possible solutions during my search - may need to try all of them to see if it works.
    1) Reset by pressing the button under the faceplate. (Did not work for me).
    2) Master reset - switch off the unit and press on the right bottom corner of the LCD and switch it on. Release the power button when it powers on, while pressing on the R lower corner. This is supposed to erase all prior data. I could not master reset my unit, for whatever reason.
    3) Software update:http://www8.garmin.com/support/collectio...
If you are a windows user you will want software version 2.4.1 as of
April 3 2007. This worked for me.

    Thanks.

My remote is disabled and I cannot use it

Hello Maurice Mauner,

check the internal battery...
ELSE...
REPROGRAM IT...!!

Since you did NOT put down a year, make or model...
I'll just select the one that is easy for me...

By going into the FORD, LINCOLN or MERCURY
Owners manual...
you will find a specific number of times you must invoke an IGNITION KEY sequence ... ((FREE))
HOWEVER... no less than two keys are typically requireD
(to keep the VALET & kids from duplicating FOBs)).

If your key inventory FALLS BELOW 2 KEYS...
things get very expensive
very fast.

PATS keys and FOBs must be programmed to the car

Footplate on M51 keeps falling down.

Sounds like you need to tighten the bolt that attaches the footplate to the bracket. You will need a 5/16" allen wrench for the bolt and a 14mm socket for the lock-nut. I'm surprised the footplate lasted 2 years without loosening up. Typically I have to tighten that bolt for customers once every few months. Hope this helps.

The power keeps turning off, the phone is fully charged. I turn the power on and 5 min.later the power is off and I don't receive calls.

How old is the phone? You might be falling into a case of a dead battery. Usually the life span of a good battery can last up to 2 years with good charging care. However, without proper care, chargeable batteries can die within a year. Try taking the battery out and plugging the phone in and seeing if that works. If it does. you may just have to buy a new battery.

Our 2005 Navigator is like sitting on it's front wheels. The air suspension is not working. Last fall we had an issue with the driver's front side not leveling. The dealership replaced a piston looking...

Anyone with a Mountaineer or Explorer should remove
the Factory Air Suspension, and replace with conventional
shocks/struts.

There are lots of companies with those products

I do not believe, even a dealer can resolve all the
issues,especially with the Mountaineer

When you go over 2 or 3 thousand dollars trying to keep
believing, you can get it to work, you will switch from
the air ride, and end what should have never been on
those vehicles in the first place.

It keeps turning itself off! How do I keep it going 24/7?

Well that seems like a waste of energy.
Anyway that is your problem.
The Power/Sleep button has a dual function: Power ON/OFF and Sleep.
A short press will turn the timer on and you will see numbers like 90, 75, 60,...10, 01. pPressing again will cycle to the next sleep duration. If your radio has a short duration timer it will seem that it is turning itself off.

To activate a normal Power up, your first press should last longer (I cannot tell you how long, you will have to try it on your own.) You should not see the timer durations, just the frequency of the station its was last tuned to. In addition, no loudspeaker should be displayed at the lower right corner.
