How ia can fix this error? "windows can not be instaled on this disk

The disk may be already formatted in Fat32. This is an older disk format used only for interchanging data. Eg Mac to PC.
Check the contents of the disk. Backup if needed.
Reformat Hard Disk (Fdisk) in NTFS format as required for Windows. Then try install.

It is not formatting., please help me

hi

follow these instructions

Instructions Things You'll Need:
  • Windows installation media (and product key)
  • Manufacturer software
  1. Ensure that the hard disk is installed properly in the laptop. The drive cannot be formatted before it is installed, or if it's not installed correctly.

  2. Gather the required software. The type of media will depend on the hardware in your laptop. Older computers without a CD-ROM drive, will require the use of the operating system floppy disks. Laptops that can run Windows XP require the installation CD and product key. Older versions of Windows also have disk-formatting capability in the installation process, and the installation media is either a CD or floppy disk.

  3. Place the installation disk or manufacturer software in the drive and then boot the computer. Early in the installation process, the Windows installer has a step that will detect any installed hard disks and allow for them to be formatted. The software from the disk manufacturer will also detect the hard disk and give you the option to format the drive.

  4. Determine which file system is to be used. Windows XP will either work on a NTFS file system or an older VFAT file system. Choose the desired file system when prompted.

  5. Decide whether the whole disk should be formatted or if the disk will be partitioned and each partition to be formatted separately. The Windows installer includes a menu-driven utility that will create hard disk partitions before formatting. If the hard disk is being formatted to replace an existing Windows installation, delete the existing partitions and re-create them.

  6. Format the hard disk with the Windows installer when prompted. The Windows installer will let you know when it is time to format the disk and ask for confirmation.

this should help you.

I wan't to format a packard bell silver 320 GB disk. GHOST 8 will not make a disk to disk copy onto it, because there still are some data on it after i have del. all.

IMPORTANT: Go very slow and be VERY careful not to erase or format the wrong disk. Backup data on the computer you are working on to another place just in case.

In Windows:
Right click "My Computer" and select Manage
Expand "Storage" and select "Disk Management"
Right click on the disk or partition in the right hand pane and select format.
This will erase all data on the disk/partition and format it so you can save data on it.

Without Windows:
Boot to a Windows CD and select a clean install of Windows. When you are prompted to select a location to install Windows delete the partitions on the 320GB disk. Then select the entire disk to install Windows with the option of Quick Format. After you see the format complete turn off the computer by holding the power button. Now your 320GB disk is one big empty partition for you to use.

Please vote for my solution if it helps.

Installation of XP MCE won't finish

You need to set the pc to boot from the install disk. Then it should detect the failed install. Either select a new location or over write or format the disk and install.
Trying to recover from a failed install is usually far more trouble than its worth. You usually end up with a unreliable install and nothing but headaches.

Hard drive

You need to use a Windows install disk, or the computer recovery disk.

At startup of new windows installation, chose new installation and then chose the option Format hard drive.

Note: the windows install disk must be bootable, Upgrade install disk (non bootable) does not have the format option.

Pc problems

Why do you want to format your hard disk for? Do you wish to install a new operating system on your PC, or do you want to format a second hard disk.

If you want to install a new operating system, then you will need to install a CD drive or an external CD drive and then you can format your drive and install a new operating system.

Use a floppy disk, This must be a boot disk with operating system files. Suggest you use Windows ME.
