I can't seem to find them... Do you have a reference designator or location of which ones to check?

  • bill_vaughn_ Apr 27, 2009

WOW!! that's great!! I do have an ohm meter but am I able to check them while in the circuit or do I need to remove them first?

Thanks for the help on this!!

  • bill_vaughn_ Apr 27, 2009

Got it... I'll check them out later today and get back with you.

    thanks again!!

I'm having problems finding those resistors locally.

Will need to order off the internet.... $8 shipping for $6 in parts???

  • bill_vaughn_ May 26, 2009

OK!! got the resistors changed and all seems good.

Now the issue seems to be the sensor in the tv for the remote doesn't work. Any ideas??

  • bill_vaughn_ May 26, 2009

I'll check that. I hope I plugged it back in the correct spot because if I didn't i have no idea where it goes....

  • bill_vaughn_ Jun 26, 2009

OK... took it a part finally and can't tell if it's plugged back in the correct spot. took the front panel off to check connection and thats ok. I tried 2 diffent universal remotes with no luck. Is a picture available of where the remote wire goes to the board or do you have any other ideas? Is there any way of using the front bottons to do the multipoint convergence(not in the manual)? THANKS!!

Did you replace the 6.8 ohm 1watt resistors? As that model will usually blow a couple when the ICs fail.

The board location numbers will be stamped as all from 3149-3160 They sometime have 6R8 1J which means 6.8 ohm 1 watt resistors 5% tolerances. Heres a picture of where they are on that board

They should have one side of each one being checked unsoldered and one side lifted from the circuit so you dont pick up resistance from the surrounding circuits.

Double check that the sensor wire plug is securely plugged in as thats one of the plugs that get removed when you removed the other board.

Hey, I have a problem with same Philips model (60pp9100/37) but having convergence issues. Can you explain how to open up the front panel? Does that whole panel just click off with a screw driver or something? Any idea which panel to take off to find the convergence skt ics?' Any help would be appreciated. I think I can manage the soldering ect....if only I can get access to the board in the tv.
My tv doesn't seem to react to the menu buttons, can move the crosshairs up and down but not sideways, when I go to converge blue, it moves sideways but nothing to converge to, doesn't show a red cross hair. I'm getting that 3d look with double imagery.

Bowed picture on Philips 55pp9352 after replacing IC's

You must have mishandled the ICs they are static sensitive, and unless you used Sanyo ICs then you will have problems. The convergence is obviously not working so the TV will need the digital convergence board repaired or replaced, also the PIP board is suspect I have seen plenty of these tvs and believe me I earned the $ 350 we charged. These sets are very difficult to work on even for a trained tech. the best thing to do is to have a repair shop do it and you will have the assurance that its done correctly, and the work is guaranteed, That makes sense. ( I will not be able to respond to any further inquires)

Philips 42PF7320A/37

This set is a HD plasma tv and convergence is done differently than the rear projection tv's,rear projection tv's have convergence Ic's and you can adjust the color but not on this unit.

Phillips Magnavox 60" model ptv835

Recently had same issue and after EXTENSIVE SEARCHING found all three ICs and replaced them. TV works perfectly, also, replaced convergence ICs at same time. The one 16-pin IC for the regulation ckt. is $49.95 the other 16-pin IC is $19.95 and the 8-pin opto is about $10. This price is for a minimum qty. and must have a business for quote.

Philips 60 inch projection

The I2C message that you get means the Inter IC communication bus on the system board has gone bad. Replacing the IC would not solve the problem.Philips patented this technology to reduce the number of ICs on the systemboard. There would be a physical I2C chip on the motherboard.
You can read about the technology on the post by philips

I would suggest update the firmware on the board, or try replacing the I2c interface controller chip.
