Question about Samsung WS32Z308P 32" TV

1 Answer

Samsung WS32Z429T I have a fine line running horizontally across the screen. Best way I can descibe it is as a ridge, it appears lighter in colour than the background, is about 1-2 mm and moves slowly up or down the screen. It is present on all inputs and even with no input. Through the RGB HD inputs (Viewing Xbox360) the problem changed to a series of lines spaced about 4inches apart that move up the screen a little faster. Any help greatly appreciated.

Re: Samsung WS32Z429T

This looks like it could be a problem with leakage of the 60Hz vertical scan frequency into the picture this is also called 60Hz hum. What usually causes this is poor filtering on the power supply or decoupling capcitors in the vertical section have begun to malfunction. This problem is easy to fix if you have the equipment to isolate the problem, I would suggest that you take this set to a TV repair shop to have it analyzed and repaired.

Screen has gone grey and has fine horizontal lines on entire screen. Blue screen is out.

Either the screen voltage to picture tube is more than normal, or the video processor IC has damaged. There is an other possibility that there is no voltage at the video output card, plugged on to the neck of the picture tube. Anyway, your set need a through checkup, and the work is somewhat skilled one. Just check this site. Soemtimes you might get some details about this fault. The fault is called vertical retrace lines. Thin horizontal lines all across the screen with an inch apart. One among the posts published in the following site have details about this fault.
Visit the site named 'Electro-help' for more details. Click this link. View it in "Timeslide" or "Flipcard" option, which can be selected from the drop down box menu by the [Sidebar] tag, at the top left corner of the display window. It will make search easy. I have owned an emerson tv for two years now. All of a sudden the picture has become very blurry and white. It is not the cable connection and a DVD is also white and blurry. Even the input channels are...

you must open the back cover of tv, and then things you should do is set "SCREEN" adjustment on the flyback transformer. you must turn it counterclockwise to reduce and decrease the level of screen brightness. turn screen adjustment gradually until the horizontal blanking lines disappear from the screen. and blurred images will be sharp again

Our tv, a Panasonic # CT-36D11E/CT-36D11 only shows a horizontal thin line across the screen. The sound is fine - any ideas? Is it time to replace or could it be repaired cheaply?

Resolder the vertical IC and replace those capacitors near and next to your vertical IC. If the horizontal line still appears, you may have to replace the IC. Thanks for asking and be caredful!

SAmsung has two white lines across screen with no picture

If the 2 white lines are in the centre of the screen it sounds like you have a fault called 'field collapse' . The 'x' or horizontal circuit on the tv deflects the beam across the screen which in your case is ok because the line runs across the screen ok. The 'y' or field circuit on the tv deflects the beam down the screen. Without a circuit diagram for your tv i cannot point to individual components.

Can I see the difference

Visually, there is very little difference to the eye of the average consumer between 720p and 1080. However, 720p can deliver a slightly smoother-looking image, due to the fact that lines and pixels are displayed in a consecutive pattern, rather than in an alternate pattern.your tv is display format is 720p and blu ray is 1080p. what happen is it will be scaled into 720p. old tv set format is 480p 720p represents 1,280 pixels displayed across the screen horizontally and 720 pixels down the screen vertically. This arrangement yields 720 horizontal lines on the screen, which are, in turn, displayed progressively, or each line displayed following another. 1080p, on the other hand, represents 1,080 horizontal lines displayed sequentially. This means all lines are displayed during the same pass. 1080p is the highest quality HD display format. 480p represents 720 pixels displayed across the screen horizontally and 480 pixels down the screen vertically. This arrangement yields 480 horizontal lines on the screen, which are, in turn, displayed progressively, or each line displayed following another.

Intense white & coloured horizontal line on black background on startup

I wouldn't attempt as the capacitors on a tv store around 25000 volts this is more than enough to kill you and they keep there charge even when the tv is off. Either take it to a repair shop or put that money towards buying a new tv - Do not even attempt to open the tv. (It sounds like maybe a tube has gone or the electromagnet that makes the beam move vertically is gone.
