Have an older 120-V BUNN Single Part # 23050.007. Recently it has started tripping the GFCI every day or more often than that.

I replaced the 20 amp GFCI outlet but it still happens. The GFCI tests properly with the test button. It resets properly on the reset button. Nothing else is using the outlet. After a half hour, a half day, or a day or so it trips again.

Any ideas of what part is shorting out?

- yes it is 3-wire including ground, on a 20 amp GFCI outlet. The unit sits on a dry stainless steel counter top. The GFCI is dry, well clear of moisture. Thanks for helping sort it out.

Does the coffee maker have a grounding (3-prong plug)? What type of surface does the coffe make sit on?

Is the GFCI exposed to any moisture?

Sounds like the coffee maker has a leak which is causing a ground fault inside the appliance. A very minor leak (just water vapor even) can cause this -- one that would never show itself by running out on the counter.

I would suggest taking it apart and looking for evidence of a leak.
