I'm new to doing this on the net, as you can see, I included my name! Also am 66 y/o and not technically inclined.

It is a Hyundai 27" LCD Color TV, Model # HTV-2700 (from the back of the TV). It is a little over a year since I bought it. I appreciate any help.

    Thanks for responding.

Tv wil not turn on, either by remote or by Power button?

Hello douglastrame,

Welcome, and thank you for using FixYa!

If you are sure the TV is plugged in, then there can only be a few other remaining reasons why the TV won't turn on.

1. 5V low or high voltage power supplies are burned out.
2. Entire power supply is burned out.

Here is the part needed from eBay!

Power Supply Board

Order it and install it yourself, if you believe you can. Or take the part and the TV to a local TV Repair Shop to have it installed for you.

Have a great day!

LG47LH30 lightning took out several appliances. TV won't turn on or any lights at all - acts as if it is not plugged in. Should I even try to fix? Are there interior fuses?

The lightning has fried at least the power source of the tv. Even if you you replace the source there are big chances that other components/boards have been also damaged.
There is nothing you can do to it, take it to a repair shop to have it diagnosed professionally.

How do I check my bestec atx-250-12e power supply with volt meter

It's hard to do with a volt meter. What you would be better off doing is either ordering a cheap power supply tester online, and test yourself with that, or take out the power supply and take it to your local pc repair shop and ask them to check it for you. There are 12V outputs, 5V outputs and 3.5V outputs, and any of them could be bad, so that is why I say using a voltmeter is harder than using an actual power supply tester.
Let me know if this solves your problem.

Big screen tv. led turns on but no picture. Then tv turns off on its own. Need a ruff estimate on cost to fix.

Your TV has a power supply problem. The power supply board is not sending the correct voltage to the video board so the protection circuit shuts it down. The power board can be replaced or rebuilt. Most repair shops will replace it.
I have repaired many of these. Usually it involves new capacitors and fuses.
I would guess a shop is going to charge $150-$300 to fix this.

Standby light is on but tv will not turn on

That sounds like a power supply issue. You can order a new power supply board for it and change it yourself, or have a shop repair the power supply. I would recommend having a shop repair that for you because there are a lot of things you can very easily damage, causing an even more expensive repair in the end.
Good luck.

There are two capacitors in the internal power supply regulator board that have been the main culprit of this particular issue. You can identify the bads ones by the slight buldge at the top of the capacitors.

Problem with power supply atx-300-12eb3

Faulty I should say, becaue you can repair it. Just replace the Buldgy capacitors. you'll need a soldering iron, soldering lead and a ****** to desolder the components terminals. Remember replace the caps with only the specific values indicated on them and also when replacing them see how you removed them is how you'll replace them and solder them back, if you not sure to do it yourself then provide the Capacitors and asked a friend who can do it for you. But if you think you can afford a new powersupply unit, thats fine.
