My Nintendo DS will "turn on," but not start up.

My Nintendo DS is in great condition, except that it won't start up. When I turn it on, the green light comes on like normal, and you can tell it has power, but the top screen just flashes white for a fraction of a second, and then goes out, and the device turns off again. THIS IS NOT A BATTERY PROBLEM, I have used 3 different batteries (2 of which I know for sure are in working order).

Anyone got any ideas for me? I'm betting it's some sort of wiring problem, but I just have no idea where to start.

Your fuse or fuses are dead. however, it is fixable, but it is extremely difficult.

1. if you don't have the time or the means or the wants to solder it, then sell it on ebay and you can get a fairly good price and someone else will fix it

2. if you do want to go through with this then you will need a meter, a soldering iron, and a lot of time and patience.

Ds light green, dim green, amber then off when power is turned on

Sounds like you need to send it in for repair. I had sent my console to VideoGame911.com and they repaired mine at a great cost and got it back at the end of the week. Give them a try, they are cheaper than a manufacturer. Good luck!

I have similar problem. I would like to know how to solve it.

No, this is not a battery problem. This is not a top screen problem as well. This is a bottom lcd problem.

The top screen flickers when the bottom lcd is messed up and the bottom screen flickers when its the top lcds problem.

Follow the links below. You can purchase a bottom LCD for cheap and there are instructions on how to change it.

Nintendo ds lite has a broken hinge

You can buy a new plastic housing for your DS lite on many different sites. Some are great quality. If the DS still works (despite the broken hinge) it makes sense to replace the housing.
You should be able to find enough videos on youtube to learn how to disassembe the DS and not do any harm. Make sure that you buy a tri-wing screwdriver (also called a nintendo screwdriver).

Hope this helps

Ds lite

Looks like you left a loose wire or flexible ribbon cable, open the unit again and be sure the cables are well locked into the connectors, be sure the flexibles are in good conditions and over all check the screens or other metallic parts not to cause a short circuit.

Some metallic parts have electric tape isolations to avoid them to touch the circuit board and fry the DS for example when you press a button amd make pressure over the parts.

Good Luck...
