Question about Computers & Internet
I got a computer from a school i work for they were throwing it away and had already taken it off their books. it has a novell client 4.91 sp4 for windows. It has a password security. i tired the password they gave me but it still didnt work they cant help me. how can i format the hard drive without going into the windows xp program?
First of all - you can not format the hard drive from within Windows. That would be like painting a chair while you sit on it.
You have to insert a Windows CD in the CD drive and then start the computer. Everything else will be pretty straight forward form there.
Do you have a Windows Operating system CD? If not you either buy one or - in case you don't want to spend any money, get a free Linux CD from somewhere.(download or a friend).
Did you try to uninstall the Novell Client from within Windows? Go to Control Panel -> Add or Remove Programs, look for anything that is related to Novell and uninstall it. That would save you a complete re-install.
If this all doesn't make any sense to you , let me know. Also, if you have any more questions, just come back here and leave a comment - I'm happy to help.

click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
